Aikman said it all. Gottlieb can pound sand.
no fan of the weasel Gotleib. But Troy was triggered. He was right too. I think it all should have been handled better. My question is...and the colt fans should ask..did Irsay know this ahead of time, and if so, when ? That's a whole other can of worms. Were the fans duped?

You saying someone was triggered is comical

Maybe there is more to the story.

Barry Sanders probably retired a couple of years earlier than he might have if not for a change at Head Coach.

Barry Sanders didnt quit 2 weeks before the season began.

Not sure why that point is do difficult to understand.

Perfect example is Witten. Never agreed with the way he did what he did. He also wasnt the face of the franchise.

I actually think Doug has a point too tho. Didn't Luck owe it to his employer to at least give them an idea in advance that he was thinking about retirement before 2 weeks til kick off? Aikman is right too.

:hammer:I'm in the minority once again....go figure. but I think DG is right. Luck completely hung the Colts out to dry. Fine...If your going to retire... your within your right......but-your the face of the franchise. Have the respect to at least to do it in a timely fashion as to not wreck so many other peoples lives.

IMHO...it's was a selfish move.

You gotta take a step back and look @ who your dealing with. The guy was a privileged kid from the day he was born. Son of a professional QB... Got a free ride to Stanford...so he's had it given to him on a silver platter his whole life.

And now that he's having to battle to stay healthy...Just goes to show he was mentally weak to begin with.

Funny this is coming from another QB that quit on his team as well. I've never bought the Aikman back injury thing. If anything...that was his excuse to get out of the Jerry circus ...while saving face @ the same time.

You don’t think Troy is triggered? He’s seems pretty hot about it to me.

And where did Gottlieb say he knew what playing QB in the NFL is like? His point is that pro sports and pro athletes are making very different decisions nowadays. Look at superstar players in the NBA getting together in FA and trying to win titles rather than stick it out with their original franchises. It’s a different world today for better or worse.
I don't think it is different. Barry Sanders walked away, too. Blew everyone away when he did.

Duped of what. They still will field a team. There will still be 53 players when the season start.

Luck...the face of your franchise and the fan base... HE PUTS FANNIES IN THE SEATS...HE MOVES MERCH. No one cares about the left guard...they wanna see the star QB. I wonder if Irsay duped the fans by withholding the Luck info.

Oh thats a new angle........

That actually makes it worse. If his heart wasnt in it, he should have quit in the offseason.
His heart may have been in it in the off-season. The narrative is to paint him to be done traitor which is sick to me. This is a guy who has shown he can play in this league. Pretty much a shoe in to make the playoffs...for him to retire must mean he’s not right mentally and to know that and walk away should be commended regardless of timing.

They went an entire year without him. They still came.
