Luck is a quitter. He came in the league made his money. His wife is pregnant with their first kid. So he's like meh I don't have to work anymore. Good for him. But he's still a quitter and it doesn't surprise me. He's never shown the fire, emotion, or any swag that he loves the game.

Opinions aren’t right or wrong...they are opinions only. DG gave his. People don’t have to agree with his view, and I’m not saying I do. My only point is that him being controversial helps his career...it doesn’t hurt it. Despite how you or I feel about it.

Ummmmm

Opinions can be right or wrong.

I didn't read the whole thread, so pardon me if this has already been said.

From what I've read, he's mostly retiring because he's mentally out of it. I think that started with the shoulder injury when he was urged to use the team surgeon and the surgery was flubbed. Reports at the time said he had to go to Britain on his own IIRC to get it redone, and he felt like his FO wasn't taking care of him. It was a long hard rehab that wouldn't have been necessary had he used a better surgeon in the first place. IMO that's where he started to lose it.

Yep.......he is done and this latest minor injury was the last straw.

He basically quit two weeks before the season started.

Make no mistake..........this is Luck making a decision that is good for ONLY Luck. And I applaud him for that. But I also feel sorry for all the people that were counting on him.

Again, he came back and played after having his kidney torn and his stomach muscle ripped. He went through years of rehab and then surgery on his shoulder. He actually played through busted ribs.

In what world does a guy who lacks fire and the desire to play the game do that?

I recall Troy saying he retired due to his back, not from concussions.
Actually Troy now says he retired because he was tired of having to be the enforcer and his coaching staff was bad. At least that is what he said in the Football life episode.

Of course they are LOL

Opinions are ‘right’ to the person who owns the opinion. DG is basically calling Luck soft. That is his opinion. Some here disagree with Doug, some agree with him. So basically some say he’s right...some say he’s wrong. Which is it?

Yet I showed you where it said he was practicing and was scheduled to start week 1.

Scheduled to start week 1....AFTER HE ALERTED THEM HE WAS CONTEMPLATING RETIREMENT lol

The dude practiced a total of 3 times prior to August 15th. Add to this that the injury he sustained was going to linger and need some form of rehab, which is exactly what he mentioned in his presser - he didn't want that cycle again. Marlon Mack discussed how happy Luck was at the end of last season and how he felt rejuvenated - so he wasn't contemplating retirement then. He started contemplating it once the calf/ankle injury happened and that this injury would linger for a long time.

Whatever you are reading it's all spin and coach speak. It's the Garrett's "day to day", "he's looking good" - it means absolutely nothing. Luck was in pain, most likely going to need rehab, he knew it and retired. As he said: "It's constant pain and a constant cycle".

Love ya H, but this is the dumbest post in the history of this board.

Luck has been fighting this for years.

I think he might come back one day, but not until he can train without pain for an extended period of time.

And his "opinion" is factually incorrect. Judging by Luck's history, the rehab he has had to go through, the fact he won comeback player of the year and had a top 5-10 season last year despite the injury history is anything but soft LOL

His "opinion" was based on ignorance.

There is a certain camp that is the most vocal with tearing down Luck, I won't name it, but it's kind of validating everything I've said about them the past couple years.

I don't have a dog in this but according to Peter King, Colts brass offered him a chance to use as much time needed to rehab his latest injury having to retire. They were willing to use the IR return destination. This tells me the last injury was not career threating and only required possibly short term rehab. Also, remember he had a career year last year. King also said Luck showed nothing but excitement for this season during an Aug 4 interview. Just me, but sounds like we're missing a link or piece of the puzzle. As a player, he showed nothing but excitement about the season up to a month ago BUT decides to SHUT DOWN a life long career 3-4 WEEKS later coz the latest injury ( appears to be lesser of all ) broke his will/fight for the game. Couple things IMO......

** odd timing
** not sure being at the game was a good idea, especially know you're resigning/retiring
** someone mentions a possible return, I don't see that as a Colt...too much damage to fans and/or teammates.
** Interesting nugget someone tweeted.....Colts have only one Super Bowl to show for Elway, Peyton Manning and Luck careers.

So one can't offer up an opinion that is then refuted by actual evidence?

There was ZERO indication he would miss games. NONE......and I even showed you where it was said he was scheduled to play week 1.

Luck quit on his team and the fans because he couldnt handle a little pain?

He should have retired in the offseason if he was goning to quit the first little injury he had.

He up and quit out of nowhere because of an ankle sprain. Nothing can change those facts.

Of course they can. Some opinions are downright idiotic. I think what we’re seeing is this particular opinion is being shared with a decent amount a people....hence the active thread

OUCH the PAIN!!!! I cant handle the pain!!! LOL

As if dealing with pain is something that NEVER happens in the NFL. Its what they do.

If he coudlnt handle a little pain he should have retired in the offseason, not 2 weeks before the season started.
