The same month in 2011 that Jason Garrett became permanent Head Coach he described in detail how he was going to build the team and the events after that day match his statements.
From acquiring the “right kind” of player to establishing a drafting philosophy based on value to the creation of close knit squads through strong competition this team has been built according to that blueprint.
Building a long term winning team is very volatile chemistry and it doesn’t happen overnight but when it happens it is also the result of being in the proper environment. Jason Garrett built that environment. He created the culture that allowed this team to be created.
Winning teams aren’t all about talent. It’s about playing for the guys that line up with you. It’s about sacrifice, it’s about hard work and it’s about preparation. It’s about a willingness to be taught and Jason Garrett is the ultimate teacher. Some of you only see the hands clapping but it is Jason applauding a player that has used something he learned from the coaching.
Don’t you think Jason had something to do with Kellen Moore’s rise to OC? Of course he did, that is what Head Coaches do, they teach and cultivate their assistant coaches. Where do you think Kellen learned the nuances of coaching in professional football, in a college course?
The best thing that could happen for the Cowboys would be for them to win a Super Bowl, Jerry steps down, and Stephen promotes Jason Garrett to GM. Who do you suppose he would choose as his replacement for Head Coach?
