Sadly true, and if they do interview Lewis it will be making a mockery of the rule. It would be like saying there a zero worthy candidates to interview.

Exactly. Its offensive, especially when there are quality young coaches out there who deserve a shot, like Saleh or Beneimy

I will also add that it is clear Dallas doesn’t want to embarrass Garrett as he is getting zero interest anywhere else. As long as he is under Jerry’s umbrella he is protected from that reality. Further that he will get no interest will also further embarrass the old drunk because he has been telling everyone how special Garrett is for 12 years. Jerry would be exposed to everyone when Garrett got no looks. Lastly it is clear Garrett is moving to the front office. Any coach coming in will need to be good with Rasputin whispering in Jerry’s ear. Hence set your coach expectations real, real low.

This franchise is a backwater.

I’d prefer McCarthy over any college coach.

That said I have little excitement for McCarthy.

Anybody hiring him is betting he can reboot himself like Andy Reid did when he left Philly for KC.
I don’t know. I think I would take Meyer over McCarthy.

Maybe i'm wrong but didn't Rodgers basiclly push McCarthy around and out in GB? I don't want any coach who will bend a knee and kiss Jerry's ring. I know Jerry probably won't hire anyone who doesn't. Nasty situation to be in. Hoping a Urban Interview is announced soon.

So you don't think the broken collarbone and leg fracture affected the play of the player at the most important position on the field those two years? Rodgers wasn't himself, and that had the greatest impact on Green Bay's success.

Again, the Packers were 4-1 in 2017 before Rodgers went through the two injuries. It's not like they were playing bad up to that point.

It's no surprise that McCarthy and Rodgers butted heads when things were going poorly. Obviously, Rodgers not liking the play-calling and changing the plays didn't work out well for the Packers. It's possible that McCarthy was trying to call things to best utilize a limited player, while Rodgers felt he could do the things he had been doing.

Coaches often end up being the fall guy after a poor season or two, even if there are legitimate reasons for the lack of success.

I’m sure it affected him some but what affected his play more was not liking the offense and butting heads with McCarthy. If the Packers lack of success had everything to do with Rodgers not being healthy McCarthy would not have been fired during the 2018 season. He didn’t even coach in 2019 so it’s not like everyone is lining up to get him. The Commanders were obviously not interested in him. It’s a big red flag when a coach is not winning with a Hall of Fame QB and the coach and QB are butting heads.

Marvin Lewis? Jerry’s hitting that JW Blue early.
Rooney Rule
Has there ever been another HC that was fired while his QB is a likely HOFer in their prime?

Seems like a top 5 QB is the best job security a HC could have, and somehow he got fired.

John Fox and Jim Mora w Peyton Manning

George Seifert in SF

Barry Switzer? jimmy? Chan Gailey?

Except Andy Reid is excellent with Xs and Os and McCarthy isn’t.

Packers are better off without him and the Cowboys are too.

I think, or more like hope Zach Taylor drafts Joe Burrow. Time for Dalton to move on.
But I hate the idea of Chase Young going to the Commanders.

However, Bengals could take Young, then the Commanders may trade their pick for a a lot of picks to possibly Miami for Burrow. I rather the Bengals make that trade, but Young still goes to the Commanders.
However, Chase Young basically disappeared in his last 4 games also. Did not make the difference when really needed. Maybe he drops.
If the Bengals pass up on Burrow the Commanders will take him.

I agree. I would want to hear what this guy has to say. His winning in two different environments(that were down) is impressive.

Totally like your line of thinking from the rescuing 2 down programs angle.

I wish he would be given the keys, accompanied by a hands off no meddling in writing from Jerry contract and allowed to draft his own quarterback and choose all his staff.

Then I woke up.

Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) Tweeted:
Sources: Former #Packers coach Mike McCarthy is headed to Dallas to speak with the #Cowboys. The team has not announced anything on coach Jason Garrett, though they are expected to move on from him and are laying the groundwork for a search.

Ian Rapoport just reported this on Twitter. Take it for what it's worth. Just the messenger.

Not a huge fan but would not be upset.
