McCarthy is the worse. All packer fans did was complain about how he either wasnt for the run game, or how he was stuck on splitting Carrie's between Jones and Williams when Jones was clearly the better back.
Dude has not even been hired and so many on here are dogging him. Mike has a 60+ winning percentage and a SB ring.

Did Lewis ever win a sb? I cannot remember.

McCarthy? Ehhh.

I don't hate. I don't love. I would be interested to see who the DC would be before I really judge the move. This is assuming they bring back Moore as OC.

I also wonder if Jerry/Stephen is looking for older veteran coaches because he's viewing them as short term bridge to Moore. Even if successful, a guy like McCarthy might only be a 3-4-5 year guy.

Reports are that Jerry has no desire to hire anyone without NFL head coaching experience and a track record. The only reason he let Garrett go is because he thinks this team is top ready to win now, so while a younger guy might be better long term, Jerry isn’t interesting in waiting for someone to learn the NFL or head coaching responsibilities over the next 3-4 years.

I don’t disagree with his position as that wastes our core guys’d careers as much as fans claim Garrett did, but it definitely limits his interviews.

I still think Jerry has to look at a head coach who will bring in someone to reshape the defense and special up teams or do it himself. I think he will want to keep Moore and a few of the offensive coaches. If that’s the case, Marvin Lewis wouldn’t be a bad hire for 3-4 years.

Babe pointed out last night he is a perfect fit considering the front office structure in GB. He made the playoffs 8 straight years, won a superbowl and played in a bunch of conference championships.

McCarthy? An offensive coordinator who's offense was the least imaginative next to Jason Garrett?
I guy who has been laying around talking about how he suddenly believes in analytics?

No thanks.

I get not liking him....but after watching the piece with Peter King...he's always been into analytics...its how he got his start. He just didn't fully develop it in Green Bay. As I said the other day, Andy Reid had a similar background(multiple Championship games and 1 SB appearance) and now people think he's the biggest stud in KC. You don't know if he reinvented himself, etc.

The good ole boys league.

Unbelievable how they do not value coaching.
you realize that out of the 8 new coaching changes last year only one made the playoffs or had winning record..theres are no true blueprint to choosing a HC and their success, all the new 1st time coaches or colleges coaches DO NOT have a better record then the retreads..

how many coaches have the Gants and skins had over the years, also new gms et cetc.. did it help? they've done both tyoes.. look around the league and BTW we dont know who this new HC might be this thread is a total RUMOR on they have their man without mention of who that is yet all fo you already having a whine and cheese fest..

jeez relax!!! be happy Garett's gone..

can we give this chance before claiming the sky is falling?

Calm down, it's NOT Marvin Lewis. Here's my thinking and why;

Gary Kubiak as HC
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Kubiak

Marvin Lewis as DC

No former HC coach out there can match Kubiak's experience and track record. The problem he recently shot down the idea of any interest as a head coach but all 3 of his boys in coaching. The oldest ( Klint I think ) is a QB coach for the Vikings. The youngest (Klein) is a scout for the Cowboys. I can see Gary doing it for a couple of years or so for his boys but he also allows the Jerry to keep Moore in training so to speak learning from Gary.

Also, talk about a coaching tree? check out assistants whose working under Gary

NFL head coaches under whom Kubiak has served:

Assistant coaches under Kubiak who have become college or NFL head coaches:

Of course he's currently still on the Vikes staff so they'll have wait in their season ends but my money:

Kubiak is our guy with Marvin coming as his DC.

The old man is dillusional if he really believes he would need to teach guys like Urban Meyer, Rhule, or Riley how to coach football.

Didn’t Dom Capers serve as DC under McCarthy?

Honestly if its McCarthy then it may as well be JG. The organization structure issue that Jerry started which led to the puppet squad of Campo, Gailey, Wade, JG will just continue and the result will be the same.
These are grown *** men who need a leader who has respect and authority. They will see this marshmallow as another puppet. If its McCarthy then Jerry will do what Jerry does. He will hire all the coordinators. He will have everyone reporting directly to him. The coach will be effectively neutered of any real power aka authority.

This team has plenty of talent. What they lack is direction, fire and leadership.

Nothing about hiring McCarthy tells me we are any closer to winning and righting this than we were with JG.
I get it. McCarthy is just an upgraded JG, nothing special but he is better. I'd prefer not to have him, but Jerry sees Super Bowl on his resume and easily controlled. Thinks he's killing two birds with one stone.

Jut can't win with some people. Garrett's gone. We'd vote for ANY forum member to be coach over Garrett, right? So now we have a guy who won a Super Bowl, and we're complaining? Don't give me "but...rodgers". I don't care if it was with Jesus Christ himself at QB (now that's a good meme!). We could have a coach that's BEEN THERE. That should count for something.

Hard to believe anyone actually expect Urban. Must not have ever watched one day of his coaching let alone his career.
