Looking at McC's previous RB coaches, other than the relatively short period where Edgar Bennett held that title, he seemed to feel ambivalent about having an ex-RB in that role. In fact, he seemed to favor ex-QBs.

Don't know if this has already been said, but if it has, I concur...

I sense that the RB Assistant Coach slot in the Assistant Coach budget probably is one where McC, assuming still ambivalent, may have said to Jerry,

"I'm not going to the mat for anyone on who gets hired for that position. We don't need to spend big there. If the guy from UT-Austin will come for what we want to offer, great, but if not, I'm very flexible about who we have for that particular slot."

This was my main takeaway as well.

We needed fresh blood here and a new message to send to Zeke.

I won't lie, I was hoping for Drayton but hopefully this will work out for us as well.

Drayton making 500k plus had a little to do with it IMO. That’s a little high for a RB’s coach. Ogeron only makes 4 million for goodness sakes.

..one of the very good things I am counting on now with a new coaching regime, new direction and new way of discipline in place.
