Do you think with or w/o a contract for Dak will Andy get a fair shake to compete and win the starting job? Will it make a difference if Dak is only the one yr deal or if signed long term?.
What planet do you live on? Is the sky psychedelic?

he signed a 3m deal to be a backup

May no point, not even for a second, did Dalton have any illusions that he was here to start.

Over 50% don't wanna give Dak a new contract and have him play on the tag or start Dalton....

https://cowboyszone.com/threads/wha...wboys-should-offer-dak-poll-ends-soon.458874/

Now munch on that reality and get ready for new beginnings at the Star!

A poll was started asking fans to pick Dalton or Dak to start the season and you picked Dalton. That says it all about you. lol Were you really that impressed with Dalton’s career in Cincinnati or is this all about your hatred for Dak?

I'm fine with him getting a shot to compete for the position. If Dak doesn't hold out, Dalton will lose and be the backup, but I'm fine with him having a chance. :)

He’ll get a perfectly fair shake. Considering he was brought in to be the backup. I imagine they’ll let the young guys compete with him for it, but the job is definitely his to lose.

Dalton may have signed as a backup (maybe with some hush hush promises that he will get to compete for the starting job) but i guarantee you he will come into camp and he will force the Cowboys and MM (with his play) to take a serious look at him and at that point all bets are off, especially if Dak is playing under the tag, if Dak signs a deal before the 15th of July there won't be much Dalton could do to change their minds no matter how well he may play, Cowboys won't sign Dak to a long term deal and not have him start..won't happen, but Dak under the tag..... watch out there may be a few around here suprised by how it will play out

WRONG...He signed a 3 million dollar deal to play QB for the cowboys.

What other player do you know that signs to "be a backup"?

Nobody.

Yeah right...because Andy had THREE #1 draft picks on his o'line.....AND a stud #1 RB leading the league 2-4 of four years and probably 4-4 if not for "situations" both in his and out of his control.

Come on...not saying you HAVE to hate Dak but at least TRY to pretend to keep it real sheesh.

Not sure why there wouldn't be. You;d sit a guy BETTER than the starter? For pride?

I'm not saying it won't happen or should happen. But...let's say for the sake of this argument Andy *IS* in fact better with THIS offense. You are going to double down on your mistake? (the big contract). STUPID!

Jerry would absolutely sit a better guy over a big contract.

Dalton will shine on the field when he comes on after Dak has already put away the opponent

I’m keeping it real. Are you saying Dalton is better than Dak? If Dalton wasn’t part of the reason Cincinnati wasn’t winning they wouldn’t have moved on from him and used the number one overall pick on a QB. Do you honestly think Dalton could overcome some of the defensive issues we’ve had?

I increasingly think that if they can't get a long term deal done with Dak, they should trade him after he signs the tag and roll with Dalton this year.

Get value out of Dak now before he walks like Cousins.
Make the most of the undervalued Dalton now.

If Dak signs a contract the fair shake would be for Dalton to serve as the backup QB because that’s what he was hired to be.

If Dak just signs the franchise tag, Dallas would be foolish to not at least evaluate Dalton in a starting role. Is that what you mean by "fair shake"? A lot of people here would say that Dalton would fail in that role but I suspect he would at least get a shot.

If Dak signs a deal, there is basically no way Dalton even sniffs being the starter.
Yes it’s exactly what I meant. For the record I’m a Dak supporter and have been from the beginning and I’m also a fan since 1963 and not casual. If Dak signs the franchise tag then it should be an open competition. Obviously if he signs long term there won’t be.

No. Dalton was signed to be the backup. He has been given the #2 job, so I guess that's a fair shake!!

Nah you're right we will just keep on kicking field goals and beating only dogs teams and Dak will stay under center till hell freezes over.
Man snap out of it as your Dak Crush has you losing a grip on reality!:omg:

You don't need a "Dak crush" to know Andy bleepin' Dalton isn't better, unless you're a yappy dog whose choo choo has gone around the bend, or maybe never understood what he was watching in the first place. I'm guessing it's the latter. :muttley:
