I don't have any problem whatsoever with Surtain at 10. He is a need and is a good pick for the 10th spot.

Pick Sewell and some 10 million dollar player is on the bench. Pick Pitts and the defense remains the sham that it is. Does he help the run defense - no, but that is another issue altogether.

Nothing smarter than determining draft picks based on your current situation.

Exactly. Draft picks are for the future, not Year 1.
Having said that, you definitely want your rounds 1 and 2 picks to start Year 1 ideally.

..didn't they say the same thing about Claiborne and Carr? The perfect players for the defensive scheme. Then by mid-season you find out Santa wasn't real.

for this?
Byron Jones signed a 5 year, $82,500,000 contract with the Miami Dolphins, including a $10,500,000 signing bonus, $54,375,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $16,500,000.

Yes because then they couldn't afford Prescott.

And yet Surtain is a consensus top 10-12 pick at a position of need.

but hey, go ahead and draft for a position you may not need and see how it improves your team-that’s a winning strategy!

Don't over think this. Take Surtain and we have our two outside corners for the next 4 years at least (Diggs) and a 5th year with Surtain, they will both only get better and we are building the defense back up. To me, it's need meets availability. Just because its boring to have the same dude mocked to us for the last couple of months, doesn't mean it's still not the right choice. Take him and lets move on to round 2.

Senior Bowl executive director and ESPN draft analyst Jim Nagy worked with Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn in Seattle and believes Patrick Surtain II would be an ideal fit. “I know what he likes in his corners. I’ve sat in draft meetings with him,” Nagy said. “I haven’t talked to Dan specifically this draft cycle about Patrick but he is that style of corner. We used to call them, ‘Seahawk corners.’ He has that kind of guy. He definitely has the tools that Dan would be looking for.”

So, you don’t understand this salary cap thing?

Nah I do.

I get the stance of wanting to get cheaper at corner.

I just hate that we’re going to use a 1st round pick for a corner when that position doesn’t have a big impact.

I want to know what the deal is with Jaelen Phillips medical.

In Claiborne's defense, injuries really set him back. Not sure how good he would have been without them.

Byron wanted a ton of money and was NOT much of a play maker.

Jerry and son don’t spend a lot of $$$ on DBs.

brown was lucky to get his 3yr 15mill contract.

lewis is 3 years 13.5 mill

diggs 4yrs 6.5 million

The OL gets the big money.
