Zeke was smart to hold out when he did

it’s cool dude, I realize this conversation is totally out of your depth.

Also, I would wait until I have been on the board for at least a year before calling someone a rookie.

You enjoy your evening.

Anyone comparing players to owners is a rookie, two totally different things, but......news to you it appears,

He is lucky Jerry and son are dumb as dirt had he pulled that in NE Bill would of shipped him out. Big contracts for RBs should just about be dead Rams let go of their guy and Panthers would like to trade their guy and sure Cowboys regret their mistake.

Interesting topic. Both Dak and Zeke used a media supported campaign to pressurize the Jones Boys into signing these players into contracts that ultimately has left the team in a terrible state and still a long way from winning a SB.
However I admire both players ( and their agents) for the audacity to extracts these ludicrous sums from a man who is a billionaire ( and contrary to opinion here obviously a good businessman) along with his nepotistic son.
The bottom line is that Dallas will need a lot of good drafting and a bit of luck to get anywhere near a SB in the next two seasons. That's before Jones extends Dak' contract. ( Adopts the pose from Munch' s The Scream).

No, it’s absolutely not Zeke’s fault. It’s Jerry’s fault for allowing a RB to be overpaid.

Correct same with any other player. Their job is not to construct the most talented team. It's to play hard and make as much money as they can in a short period of time.

Him and his Agent played Jerry like a cheap fiddle.
Totally agree. Jerry should've told him where to stuff it. Letting Zeke get by with that hold out and then rewarding his efforts was a huge mistake. I liked Zeke and I was all in for drafting him, but that premature hold out and way oversized contract killed it for me.

I just can't see how anyone can put that much of an investment into a RB in today's NFL, particularly when your are lining up a big payday for your QB. You can't have two franchise players in the same backfield and make it work with the cap.

While this is true, if you are a fan of the Team, you don't applaud this level of ineptitude in your front office.
Exactly. I'm a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, not the Dallas Zekes, Dlaws and Daks who aren't as good or important as they think they are.

A lot of people on here applauded the move just like they did with Dak.

Yes, and then when the cap goes all to Hell-o, they conveniently forget what caused it. All they care about is PAY THE MAN!

So, it's ok to rob others as long as you get overpaid?
It could be said that owners rob players. They make billions off of them, and pay them peanuts compared to what they make, to watch them get totally beaten up.

I root for them to be well paid. Why is it important to root for them to get 15 mil/season instead of 10 mil/season? Either is a life changing amount they can easily retire on. Why get that extra that could be used to get the team into the super bowl? That's what I don't get. I myself root for the NFL players to become very rich. W/ the harm they do to their bodies, they deserve it. It's the greed of insisting on maxing out a contract that I disagree w/.........The money Z and DLaw got, where did it come from? It comes from other players' pockets. So, when you are rooting for anyone to get a maxed out contract, you are actually rooting for other players to get less.

All true ksk. And what's the sense in rooting for a player to hurt the team you claim to support?
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.....:banghead:

Funny, no one mentions the Billions that owners make, but 40 million for one man is outrageous.
Those greedy billionaire owners created and continue to create a myriad of players into millionaires.
How many millionaires have those players created other than themselves?
If it wasn't for those owners, you could erase all those millionaires they created.

He got his money before he fell off. Now set for life if he's not dumb with his money. Had he waited one more season he wouldn't have gotten paid nearly what he got. On the flip side, his contract hurts Dallas.

Jerry let himself get punked. Zeke had to come back for half the season if he wanted to accrue a league year. Perfect chance for Jerry to finally hardball a top player.

The money, say Z and DLaw got, where did it come from?

Comes from the CAP, the pool of money Jerry has to make *our* little Cowboy dreams come true.
Getting value for each cap dollar is the fundamental competition, long term.
