Yup. I'm right. You know it. I know it. It's why I'm under your skin and why even after telling you you'd stalk me in a thread in the future, you've now done it here again and will again. Your fear and emotion dictate that you will, just like with the media saying bad things about the Cowboys. You care so much about what others think. And you think that doesn't extend to what I say too? It's how you roll. Lol.

Aaron Rodgers said it best. "I own you. I still own you."

Well, for arguments sake, if this mess is on the owners, that makes Goddell their overpaid pawn. Your argument is he works for them, therefore he does carry the responsibility as their "figurehead" for what people are griping about here. He's not absolved are succeeding in spite of. I don't see how a glorified "puppet" is the best commish in recent memory
All the NFL commishes have been overpaid pawns.

Yeah we know all that—I’m talking about the many oddities and strange coincidences.
And Jerry being so dumb that he doesn't understand how important stopping the run is? That's the biggest reason, far bigger than all these strange things you're talking about.

Of course it is. I’m just saying the strange things are real.

All the NFL commishes have been overpaid pawns.

Well, "overpaid" is kind of relative to what someone is willing to pay you. What should the guy who takes the entire NFL fanbase's rage be paid when the real decision makers are bringing in all the billions of dollars?

"Pawn", absolutely. That word is likely in the job description.

Goodell doesn't control the NFL the way most people seem to think he does. The owners do, and they're just fine with letting him be the puppet as they pull the strings.

It's honestly shocking how many people haven't figured out that it's actually 32 billionaires (or multi-hundred-millionaires) that make all the decisions, and Goodell is paid to more-or-less announce them.

Do I like the guy? No. Do I hate the guy? No. I'm entirely indifferent because I know he isn't the one changing the rules (Competition Committee), setting the salary cap (Ownership vs. NFLPA), or making the marketing decisions that have made the game a giant commercial (Ownership & NFLPA). As far as I can tell, he can only issue punishment, but that is also a job given to him by the other 32 geezers behind the curtain.

His only real job is to provide some semblance of neutrality and announce things. His most stressful task is probably getting the players' names right on draft night.

I still can't for the life of me understand how a group of 32 billionaires and their bran trusts came to the conclusion that Roger Goodell should run their league and be paid a fortune to do so.
This.

Goodell should have fired for trying to bury the concussion issue. Jerry does plenty wrong, but he was right to want to get rid of the snake in charge.

People just talk honestly. I can already guess the responses:

“The game isn’t the same as it used to be”

“Too many non-football distractions”

“Soft”

“Nothing like the good ‘ol days”

At the end of the day the NFL is as big as it’s ever been financially and popularity wise. Both those things mean Goodell’s job is super secure.
Ever hear of the concussion issue that was buried by the NFL commissioner? Hell, there was a movie about it.

Ever wonder how the players union (that is supposed to look out for the PLAYERS), didn't demand his termination?
