If you look at it, there was several QBs options that was considered before drafting Dak. The teams actions in attempts to get other QBs before settling on Dak. All of those meeting looked good for Dak, but the repeated attempts to get get other QBs spoke volumes as well. Jerry is still regretting not making the trade for Lynch.

That's fair, jnday. The fact remains that Dak was absolutely part of a plan. The Cowboys did their due diligence (at least in the draft) to upgrade the QB position. They tried to insert themselves into one scenario and hoped that the draft came to them in a couple of others. It can be argued that the Cowboys "settled" for Dak. Again, that's fair. The fact remains that they had every intention of "settling" for him if the draft fell that way to them (which it did). Which is why they did their due diligence in the pre-draft process. They're comfortable with the kid, for now. They know what he is: a project with above average athleticism and highly regarded leadership skills. Some may say they "settled", I prefer to think that they "came back to earth".

The odds of landing Lynch and Elliott with our first two picks (plus a considerable cost in future drafts) was pie in the sky to begin with. Could it have been done? Sure. It's just a matter of cost. I, for one, am glad we didn't pay it. Cook is rumored to have been a target, also. I'm REALLY glad he was taken before us. I don't care about the guy's measurables. A QB that isn't voted a captain by his own teammates is not a leader of men. No excuses. He's the anti-Romo. Hell, he's the anti-Dak Prescott. Prescott has a lot to learn. Romo did, too. I was at the very first pre-season game Romo ever played and let me tell you, bro, it was Uuuuuuggggglllyyy. I walked out of Sun Devil Stadium (the very first game Parcells ever coached for this team, also) saying to my wife "that Romo guy is an absolute turd. He won't even make it to the end of training camp". I, obviously, couldn't have been more wrong about Romo. Since then, I've been a lot more gunshy with the "he sucks" trigger. I'm not expecting Dak to come in and light things up in his first year (or even his second, to be honest. Romo didn't earn his shot until what, year four?) but I do think that he's a smart enough kid, a good enough athlete, and strong enough leader to invest a couple of seasons to find out what this kid is all about. Now, with that being said, if we have an opportunity to upgrade the position, in the meantime, by all means go for it (either through FA or future drafts)! But we could have done a lot worse that Dak Prescott. Connor Cook comes to mind right off the bat.

Good talkin' with ya, j. Have a good one, brother.

It's all a wash to me, false hope. If we lose Romo for an extended period of time we will not be going to the playoffs unless we have a true starting caliber QB coming off the bench anyway. There was no backup QB in the NFL that was going to save our season last year, esp without Dez and no explosive running game. The only real value in having a good backup QB is to buy you one or two games if necessary, not half or more of a season. Any NFL team will lose games if they are without their starter for very long. Going to be interesting to see New England cheaters play without Brady for four games if his suspension holds. By week five they could be relegated to be playing for a wildcard spot if they were in a better division.

I trust Gil and his pelts over Mikey, any day.

I think Fisher has WAY more insider information these days than Gil
He said they all directly denied this...at least the "open offer" part.

I think the Cowboys have a standing offer on every red headed QB in the league.

But not just anyone can do this...

It would be stupid to give up any draft picks for any vet qb.

Dallas has little history of success drafting in the third rounds or later over the last few years. I don't mind them trading away mid round bot later picks to get a QB. Glennon is better than any QB on the Dallas roster other than Romo.

if I am an agent and want to drum up business for my client, I use the word "Cowboys" in some manner...everyone reads that word so more people see your client's name

Two 3rd round picks for Glennon? Too steep for a guy the Bucs didn't feel was good enough either.

Im will to guess that one of the big reasons they want to get rid of him is that he is a threat to their hero they drafted #1 overall last year. I thought Glennon played good enough when he was in there. Especially for being so young.

Dear god, this guy gets sacked like a poker dealer deals cards.

2013: 13 Starts, 416 ATT, 40 (40!!!!) sacks! (sacked every 10.4 attempts!)
2014: 5 Starts, 203 ATT 16 sacks! (sacked every 12.6 attempts!)

Romo's absolute worst year from a quick glance is 15.3 attempts per sack. That is his WORST with a decent sample size and we've had some crappy OL play before all the 1st round picks. His career average is 17.4.

That 10.4 is an EXTREMELY short career terrible sack rate. This kid must be holding on to the ball way way way too long.

Yep, and you must be the type of guy that thinks it's the womens fault when she gets beat up by her husband.
