It's time to start taking Noah Brown seriously

And if Noah is retained it would be Noah, thought that would be obvious.

I don't think he's anywhere close to being ready to step in and take that role over Butler. Brown has flashed on 3rd-4th stringers that will be on the streets in a few weeks.

Brown is a development prospect with some upside. While some folks are saying he should add weight to play TE or H-back, I think he should lean up and lose 8-10 lbs.

Butler plays an important role in this offense and is security for Dez or T-Will. To say he's 4th or 5th WR option misses the point because if either of the two aforementioned guys goes down he (Butler) leapfrogs Beasley and Switzer.

Butler sucks so I'm not ruling out Brown beating him. For all his speed no one can point to a catch he made last year that showcased his speed. Scrub *** dude

Noah is going to wind up in a Buffalo Bills uniform. They have no receivers right now.

Don't see all 3 of Bell, Cleary and Looney making 53. Guys are nothing special. Carroll sucks. And Nzeocha and Durant are in real danger as well. Wilson is a moron who's having trouble tackling but I would cut him for his stupidity. Wilber is dime a dozen.
I agree its unlikely that all three linemen do, but if they are worried about Green's health I could see it. Being short at OLine is much worse then being short at WR. Carroll sucks? Okay I'm pretty sure the team disagrees and he will be on the opening 53. The Cowboys are going to carry 6-7 LB. They pretty much always carry 6 LB, and usually have 7. You may think they're all spares, and they might be but they will get roster spots due to position and use in special teams.

There should too much physical talent in Noah Brown to get cute and risk losing him to waivers. It was obvious prior to the team drafting him that the physical traits were there. What was expected was that he was raw as a receiver and needed the investment of coaching and time to learn. Thus far, the talent is there and the learning curve has been somewhat less than expected. Win-win.

And, while Brice Butler looks positioned for a career year, that career year will likely be a ticket out of town next season when another team steps up to pay him more than what Dallas can afford. Keeping Brown now gives you a talented replacement for 2018.

If the team is truly in the business of acquiring and retaining talent, Noah Brown should have a place on this roster.

Brice Butler could bring a draft pick.

Butler could bring an even better compensatory pick if he has a season as good as he's been showing in training camp and preseason. He could be another Laurent Robinson, who has a career year in Dallas and parlays that into a lucrative contract somewhere else in 2018.

No big deal, just making Kellen Moore look like a competent QB.

Not keeping Brown on the 53 is like hitting on a lotto ticket and throwing away the winnings.

There's too much short sightedness by posters saying he won't contribute much as the 6th WR. You're not keeping Brown for what he'll do in 2017, You're keeping a 20 year old promising rookie for what he can be in 2018, 2019, and beyond.

He's better than any other fringe player that's in the running for the 53rd spot. 9th OL, 10 DL, 7th LB, 6th CB.....higher ceiling that any of those players.

Imagine keeping a guy like Marquez White over Brown, who he routinely baptizes in practice. I'd be sick.

No matter what I'm not letting Butler go just to keep Brown.

Agreed. Just when Brice is coming into his own is not the best time to consider ousting him. He's having his best camp ever and has been demonstrating he's vastly improved this year. He's someone who has just gotten comfortable in the offense and has improved his play greatly as of late. Wasting the time, energy and money that we've spent developing him would be foolishly counter productive now.

We should, at least, see how things turn out in the games ahead to get a better picture of what to do with both of them. Additionally, Brice can help us considerably this year, whereas Brown very likely couldn't be trusted for a good while yet. A year on the practice squad could do Brown a great deal of good in better preparing him to contribute and perform at his best.

Totally agree. And on top of that, we're getting this from a guy everyone labeled as a long term "developmental" player. If this is him being "developmental", I can't wait to see what the finished product looks like. And I want to see it here, in Dallas, not lamenting the "one that got away" so we could continue this farce that Kellen Moore is an NFL quarterback.

Butler plays like an UDFA so what's so funny again? And Noah was drafted smart***

The point being that Butler has performed fine and is under no threat of losing his job because of Brown. We did the same thing last year when people predicted things like Andy Jones making the roster and being a threat to Butler.

I hope Brown makes the roster but he is what he is at this point..............a 6th WR. Keep him around and hope he develops to the point where Butler then becomes expendable after this year if he prices himself out of our cap.

Sure, the dozens or hours that I spent studying a couple of players somehow compares to the 5 seconds that it took you to make a guarantee that's meaningless. You don't even post the Cowboys history of how many WRs they carry each year.

You always brag about spending hours watching film. Then someone puts up a simple clip of one play where someone blew the coverage and you cant even figure out it was Jeff Heath. In fact your answer was "I dont know". It matters not how much time one spends watching film, its whether you actually figure out what is going on. So you watch hours of film and come to the wrong conclusions? You would be better off not watching at all.

His game looks like Dez's game. Of all our receivers I think he's the one the only one that does. I hope we are able to stash him cause if he has some nice showings these coming 2 weeks he'll be on someone's 53.

Yeah, but he is going to have a hard time getting much time on the feild if Bryant, Williams and Beasley stay healthy.
