I'm a huge LotR nut, but you can't mix fantasy and rock and not end up with the dwarves and Stonehenge effect. It's just not very metal.

I feel the same way about By-Tor and the Snowdog and The Trees, for the record, for you progrock *******s out there.

And a head-bangin' Turkey Day to you, too.

Several thousand Germans disagree

Since when is music about competition. I've never like the Grammy's and I don't like the premise here. Both bands are legit legends in their own way. Led Zeppelin was the first band I discovered on my own. Before them it was only the Beatles that my older brother introduced me to. AC/DC was introduced to me by a friend down the street. I have good memories from all that music and it's not about competition. Have a preference but don't go thinking it's either this or that because it's both.

Both were great.

Zep was greater.

AC/DC has a very secure place Rock n Roll history.
(This band is better with Brian Johnson)

Going in a different direction in this thread.

Bringing up a VERY underrated and for many unknown, English band that I have always liked.

Slade.

Quiet Riot is probably more popular world wide after making it big singing covers of slade songs.

But I still love some classic Slade and I also liked a few songs off the 1984 Keep your hands off my power supply album.

Hard not to tap the toes and band the head to this drum beat...

Even if you want to make it a competition it's not. It's only opinion and yours is no better than anyone else's. Music belongs to everyone one and no matter how hard you try, you will never make your demands of how it should be the way it is. I choose AC/DC and Zeppelin and there is no reason for anyone to have to choose one over the other unless they freely choose to do so without corrosion from you.

Music first became a competition when a listener heard something very good musically and said to themselves "i can do it better". Henceforth you have musical competition.

I love how you put "no matter how hard you try" and "your demands" into your last post. Was i trying hard? Which demands are you referring to, i must of missed those.

I think Led Zeppelin has the better instrumentalists and when i listen to Zeppelin i sometimes feel like i am listening to something from another world where music has reached a completely new level of understanding, ok that might be taking it too far, but seriously Zeppelin is so different from any other rock music i listen to, i have a hard time putting other bands in competition with them.

ACDC with Bon is the most energetic fluid music with the perfect match of vocal scrappy scratchy strength that i have ever heard. No matter what i am feeling like when ACDC comes through the speakers i want to get up and do something quickly, no time for slowness no time to wait, just move now.

Can one be considered better than the other?

I got Zeppelin as the better band.

What say you?

Most notable rock bands since are a marriae of the two

 it's music, meant to be enjoyed not argued. You obviously don't get it.

So is there no competition in painting, sculpting, or writing? What about dancing? This can't just stop with music, this list has to go on. Where in your eyes does the line into competition get crossed over. This should be interesting if you have the will to try and answer. If not i guess i should also type good bye.

Like any art, beauty is in the eye(or ear) of the beholder. Personal taste will discern what you prefer. Your preference doesn't invalid it for someone else to see it differently.

What if i say that strategy in war is a form of art, does that mean there is no competition in it?

The Art of War. No, we both know just because there is a book with that title, it doesn't make it so. I've experience war and it is nothing like art.

That's only your opinion, which you mentioned so clearly a few posts ago, somehow your opinions have now become facts. Can't use both sides of the coin at your own pleasure and expect to be taken seriously.

Lets move on.

What about the game of Chess is there a form of art in it? Yes, no, maybe so?

Where does art end and competition begin? That's the only question you need to answer that will actually advance this discussion, otherwise were just going in circles.
