It’s not a putrid scheme. The scheme is fine.

Making defenses decide and show what they have decided to try to stop before the play starts on every digger play is not a bad scheme. It’s actually a great scheme.

Lacking serious talent at qb is the problem. All teams know we are built to run the ball. It’s pretty easy to figure that out. And being that we are good at it, what do defenses do? They sell out to stop the run.....which in turn leaves us 1 on 1 outside with one safety. And we get to know the play. Sounds like a pretty good advantage to me. Just too bad our qb is useless

I couldn’t care less about Dak, I used to be neutral until after a couple games this year and have recently expressed a lot of concern. You keep act like I’m defending him. Personally, since Atlanta he has flat out sucked and unless he suddenly turns things around then they need to find a new QB. I don’t disagree he’s a bus driver and during his rookie year I repeatedly said the same thing you said (that he didn’t look good under pressure and was placed in a perfect situation) and 90% of the fans were all up in his jock and would bash me for even mentioning it.

There you go, making more excuses for Tony but to answer your question, yeah in 2014 Tony had all those O linemen plus a prime Wittten, Dez and a RB that had more yards than Zeke did his rookie year. They went 12-4 and lost in the playoffs.

In 2016, Dak had the same players, most on their downside, plus Zeke and went 13-3 his rookie year and lost in the playoffs.

Looks like Bologna Tony needed a perfect setup as well and he was an 8 year veteran at the time.
Dak can't hold Romo's jocks...so now that's settled. and Romo one a playoff game and lost on a controversial call in GB, which is called the Dez catch rule. hard to fight the NFL rule idiocy.

fallacy noun
3 : an often plausible argument using false or invalid inference

  • Argument 1: Quarterback A is automatically average to subpar because he had multiple interception games and he and his team did not win a championship(s).
  • Argument 2: Quarterback B is automatically very good to elite because he had multiple interception games and he and his team did win a championship(s).

Right now they ALL suck and yes Dak is choking.

Dak isn't actually choking... He just was never that good to begin with. He had the same issues in 2016. They were just masked well by defensive schemes that gave him way more credit than he deserved.

Giants took his check downs away in both games. They actually exposed Dak then. But, no one followed suite. If the defenses did the same things they have been doing to him now, back in 2016... we would be seeing the same results.

He still had other opportunities and blew them. The catch rule was called right at the time, even though it was a bad rule and to be honest, Detroit got robbed in the game before so I don’t buy into the excuses. Bad calls go both ways. The officiating sucked then and it’s only become worse.

Rodgers could also barely move and was literally limping, they had to dumb down the entire playbook due to his injury. The game should have never even been that close.

Good point!

I believe it was the Eagles and Vikings (maybe Giants as well) that gave me a lot of concern in 2016. You could tell he sucked under pressure and knew he wouldn’t have that rype of protection his entire career. At the time though, I still had hope he would get better since he was just a rookie. My hope quickly diminished last year.

Well GB defense was 23rd against the run and we were 8th against the run. We were much worse against the pass but were middle of the pack overall defensively and they were slightly above us. Tony was 15 for 19, with a good QBR since he hardly threw the ball and Murray ran for 123 yards on 23 carries.

If anything, I’d say Murray had more to do with keeping it close than Romo. No one mentions Murray though, it’s only Romo that kept us in that game. Ridiculous what people conveniently fail to remember or mention when creating a fictional “hero”.

Murray blew that game with his fumble. ;)

Romo had his best season when the Cowboys decided to finally have a balanced attack. Murray was as responsible for that season as Romo. And of course the next year our great FO decided to blow the team up.

Murray blew the game with the fumble but none of the multiple INT’s in the Philly or Skins game were Romo’s fault, haha.

Jason Witten and Chuck Norris walked into a bar and the bar instantly exploded because that much awesome can’t possibly be contained.

Then explain how every QB except Romo has looked like dog poop here.

Wow so one of the best (and certainly the toughest) QBs in Cowboys history has a bad game and that's your best argument against the point of this thread? "You're no daisy." :lmao:
The point of the thread is that Romo can out-coach the clapping clown blindfolded. That's got nothing to do with pointing out the same stuff ups every QB has had.

LMAO. You must be young. Don Meredith played without an OL for most of his career. More than one game, the front of his jersey was smeared with blood from getting blasted. He would go back to pass again and again. He and Bob Hayes were as thrilling of a tandem to watch as there has ever been for the Cowboys.

Maybe you are old enough to remember Aikman getting sacked 10 times on one memorable game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Once Tony started to get hurt, it seemed as if he simply turned to glass and would get hurt by the passing shadow of a DL.

All it wouldve taken was the next to last play of the game being different.....he held up his end while throwing what should've been the game winner to Crayton.
The play after that was the last resort, no time or timeouts pick in the endzone. Very deceiving pick, stats wise. He only has one other pick in his playoff career vs 8 TDs.

Fwiw, even then, the 17 points Dallas scored was more the Pats could in the SB
The Giants D got rolling
It doesn't matter what facts you bring up to *******s like that.

I dont think anyone on here is campaigning for JGs and his scheme to stay. Most of us want a full house cleaning (New QB and coaching staff).

not likely - JJ signed off on no Dez and 11 new faces on the O roster, that's called rebuilding and he left it to WM and JG

Linehan may get the ax, Dak gets a cheap contact and a prototype WR in R1 (the next #88)

Swaim is in, (Baldwin and Gathers are in a dog fight). Beasley a huge ? ... Gallup and Austin will be here, Hurns maybe, Butler maybe,

not what I'd do - but they don't listen to me
