Well, on the road against an elite offense you need an assist from your offense to put points on the board and possess the ball to keep you off the field. That didn’t happen.

That's true Clint, but the Rams killed us in their very 1st series with the run. It's not like our defense started stronger but wore down through the game, we got our rear ends kicked by their running game in the 1st possession and it never let up after that. I'm sure it wore them down as the game went on, but that just added fuel to a fire that was already burning.

If his strategy is to be the best you can possibly be, we need a coordinator with some actual X's and O's. You think Sean McVay is as successful as he is because of hollow buzz phrases?

DL got handled tonight. Coaches can say whatever, it doesn't change what happened.

Linehan and Garrett are masters of "it's not my fault" or "there was a problem with execution." In their minds, they don't make mistakes, it's all execution. Nevermind that every single player needs to play to perfection for their gameplan to execute right.
I've never seen them take any blame. There are always scapegoats. Richard acted like a man and fell on the sword for his players publicly and will probably chew them out privately. That's how a true coach handles it. They don't make excuses publicly or call players out publicly.

Exactly the truth DeathMonkey. I don't know how anyone can respect coaches like that, let alone trust them.
Richard has more guts and respectability than either one of them.

You know Bullflop at first I kind of wanted to argue against that statement, but it's hard to do. Our Oline did not give Zeke the blocking he needed to produce room to run. It just wasn't there. On the other hand, our DL got killed by the Ram's running game. Just destroyed.

Yep -- Aaron Donald and King Kong Sue really made things tough for our OL and Zeke. Sadly, the C-boys' defensive front seven also got abused by the LA o-line all night long. Granted, some of that was possibly partly caused by our various injuries and hurts, although their lines were visibly bigger and stronger on both sides of the ball vs. our guys.

Obviously, they have some degree of talent that we're lacking, although I'm still hoping Will McClay and his scouts may ultimately find a way to re-direct that deficit in our favor. It'll take time but I still hold hope that it's not just wishful thinking.

Nevertheless, I was somewhat pleased to see that we gave the Rams and their fans at least a few reasons for concern. We do seem to be making incremental progress talent-wise on a yearly basis, though. Hopefully, maybe we'll eventually be able to catch up with the NFL's more talented franchises at some point in the not-too-distant future. For now, at least, it's good just to see them back in the playoffs . . . baby steps. ;)

Really we can't even argue on our forum after this game, we at least require ONE punt from our Defense to blame the O...let's be honest. With that said, good bounce back season. Didn't expect two playoff games..we need a few more pieces.
We need a playmaker on Defense...

Unfortunately, Marinelli likes it that way. He wants smaller guys cause he thinks they're faster. Well Mr. Marinelli, how'd that work for you Saturday night? Marinelli's style of DL got their rear ends stomped. You might be able to bluff your way through the regular season like that, but things toughen up when you get to the playoffs.

Yeah, I think a couple of sizeable DTs could go a long way towards correcting such a deficit. Maybe when Marinelli retires, Coach Richard might find it desirable to welcome some d-linemen with more impressive-sized bodies to thwart opposing o-linemen. That should be a welcomed change.

McVay is one of the best play callers in business, had the defense guessing all night. Hope Jerry took notice.

Jerry wouldn't know the meaning of "play calling" if it hit him in the face

There’s a reason he was let go by the Seahawks.
I'd trust a guy like Richard who took responsibility to correct the problem LONG before I'd trust a Garrett or Linehan who has never accepted responsibility for anything. Garrett has never ever made a mistake, just ask him.
Richard has more guts and character than Garrett ever had.

Both oc should be gone..the visual different between the head coaches were night and day...McVay was always involved...Jason looked lost....the Rams ol blocked was outstanding..the would push the dl line to one side and the rb would cutback into a massive hold....as long as Jerry is gm..we, hope I am wrong...we won't win on the big stage...need killers on defense..

Richard's first year here and he is willing to take more responsibility than either of the coaches who have been here for Seasons. Jerry should offer him a promotion and a promise for the headcoaching job, if Garrett fails for yet another season.

I swear,it did cross my mind that all this head coaching pursuit might be a distraction.
Then again, the Rams OC did just fine and he’ll be going to Cincy as HC.
Could be

That’s coach garbage to protect his players. The simple fact is,they had better players than Dallas could defend. Just man for man, they got beat and all the coaching and X’s and O’s can’t change that.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ They were better! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Best trench men both sides of the ball. Bulls for running backs. Our offensive game plan was BS.
