The Pads have a wealth of young talent... Adding Harper could make them a very competitive team here very soon.

Petco ain't a good park for a pure power hitter. Philly has a much better nucleus to put around a Harper or Machado, who has gap power that would work better at Petco.

Oh I agree with that take.

I just think in a very short time that the Pads & Braves will be the powers in the NL.

The Phillies kind of befuddle me... They still have a couple holes. I don't think their pitching is top-notch.

I'm not sold on the Phills pitching either, but with a star bat they could win enough to stay in contention and make pitching moves at the deadline. The Pads are on the right path. They just need to be careful with their signings.

Machado signing with the Pads. Good signing for them.

The Pads getting Machado makes them a major force in the NL West. I can see the DBacks falling out of the race and looking to rid themselves of Greinke's contract. He could be just what the Stros need to get the pennant.

I think it's a good move also for the Padres... At least for the first half of the contract.

The Phils remain confident that they are going to sign Harper, but the sides are nearing a crossroads in their negotiations.
The results should be in on Tuesday.

If the Phils close out a deal with Harper, it would conclude an offseason in which Philadelphia landed two All-Star outfielders in Harper & McCutchen, All-Star reliever Robertson, & Realmuto, who is widely considered the best catcher in baseball.

I'm happy to see the front office backing up what they had said after the Red Sox won the WS. "Its time to build for a championship like the Red Sox".

If they don't get Harper it's all for nought. Empty stadiums just like last year.

Wanna win? Wanna make money? Wanna put ***** in the seat?

Pretty simple. Pay him what he wants and let's go.
