If Jason Garrett goes, so should Dak Prescott

With Garrett being in the final year of his contract and Jerry Jones already talking this team up - this needs to be it. If Garrett fails to improve upon what we did in 2018, he needs to walk and take Prescott with him.

Normally, I wouldn't attach a player to the coach, but whatever coach we bring in should be allowed to draft the QB that best suits their system. The 2020 QB class is looking to be deep, you potentially have Tua who is in the mold of a Russel Wilson, Herbert who can make every throw on the field with good mobility, and your prototypical pocket passer in Fromm - then you have interesting prospects such as Costello and Eason whom could end up being late first round to early second round picks as well.

Unless Garrett and Prescott take the next step, we should not consider them our future and there will be plenty of options out there to replace and move on.

This is the main reason Dak won't get an extension this offseason. If the Cowboys under perform and Garrett is let go the Cowboys don't want to be in a position of looking for a new coach who maybe doesn't believe Dak is the guy. That doesn't mean we would lose Dak because we would still have the franchise tag to use in order to keep him while a long term deal is worked out.

Stop derailing threads with trying to bring everything back to Romo. You're not clever, you have no debate skills, you know it and everyone else knows it. You're, I'm guessing, a grown man and you still struggle to discuss sportsball. It's sportsball, my dude. Anyone with an IQ at 75 and above can discuss this rationally.

Next.
Honest & serious question: Is Romo your favorite Dallas QB of all time?

I'm not saying that your list of QB's won't make it in the NFL, but the list is a mile long of QB's that looked great in college but when they got to the NFL they were busts. So IF Garrett is fired to just get rid of Prescott who was NFL rookie of the year and holds the NFL record for the fewest picks by ANY rookie QB EVER, smacks of someone that fior whatever reason doesn't like Prescott and just wants him gone.

1. Who is saying just to fire Garrett to get rid of Prescott? Stop adding to the post, grandpa

2. You know Prescott is in year 3, right? Why are we bringing up rookie numbers again?

3. Again, "HURR DURR NFL HARD! STICK TO MEDIOCRITY!" is so absolutely weak and exactly why our franchise has become such a turd.

Hey little boy I bring that up because:

1. I didn't say Garrett had to be fired to get rid of Prescott. I replied to others that said if Garrett is fired Prescott should automatically be released. I made the statement that firing Garrett is just an excuse for those that don't like Prescott and he does not have to automatically be released if Garrett is fired.

2. The chances of another rookie QB coming in and doing the same things Prescott did as a rookie is slim so all this pie in the sky about another rookie QB is a lot of dreaming. There are ZERO guarantees that one of those QB's on your list won't be a bust that gets added to that mile long list.

3. TWO divisional titles in the last three years isn't exactly mediocrity. Little boys just don't get it that it takes good play and a lot of good luck to get to the Super Bowl. Just ask the Saints fans who saw just how lucky a blown call got the Rams to the super Bowl instead of the Saints.

It's time for you to stop thinking the real life in the NFL is like the dream world you've got swirling around in your head.

1. You specifically said, and I'll quote, "So IF Garrett is fired to just get rid of Prescott" - this was not mentioned anywhere nor did my post even hint at firing Garrett for the sole purpose of getting rid of Prescott.

2. Finding a freakin' QB that comes in, and in his third year, throws 22-24 TD passes a season is not difficult to find. He's also ranked #20 on PFF, #17 on ESPN QBR, and low in nearly every statistic at Football Outsiders. "MUH ROOKIE SEASON" - You know more about a QB in their third year than their rookie season.

3. LOL how many championships have we had since 1995? How many playoff wins? You're a mediocre person accepting mediocrity - Imagine thinking wildcard round wins puts you above anything other than mediocrity.

Tom Landry is rolling in his grave.

1. Like many users I also address other things in a thread and where I should have put a ? after So if Garrett is fired to just get rid of Prescott because I was questioning that train of thought by those that said fire Garrett and then get rid of Prescott.

2. Prescott accounted for 28 TD's in 2018. I guess you forgot or intentionally omitted his rushing TD's. That was more TD's than Rodgers who is usually put in the top 2 or 3 QB's in the league.

3. You need to look up the word mediocrity and learn it's meaning if you want to continue using it. Teams that year after year that are at 500 is mediocre. Teams winning 13 season games, winning divisional championships and going to the playoff are not mediocre teams. If they are then every team that doesn't reach the Super Bowl each year are just mediocre.

I get that you're angry because the Cowboys haven't gone to or won a Super Bowl since 95', but to equate seasons like 2016 and 2018 as mediocre is a complete misuse of a word. For the record I wish they would win the Super Bowl EVERY year, but I'm not going to start throwing errant labels on them because they haven't. Lastly if the Cowboys are so hard for you to take and accept, why don't you make yourself happier and find another team to route for.

1. Then quote them. Who said this?

2. I really don't care about rushing TDs from a QB, I care about what they can do with their arm. Show me the amount of scrambling QBs that weren't great passers that won championships

3. A 10-6, 12-4, and 13-3 seasons in the past 10 years does not take away that we hover around 8-8 to 9-7 normally. At our peak, we can't get beyond the divisional round. We are mediocre

What you're pointing out are outliers. Next.

Rushing TDs isn't the primary thing you are looking for in a QB, but ultimately the goal is to score TD's, therefore you can't ignore rushing TD's when determining whether a QB has been effective getting those TDs.
