I’m all for seeing what we can get for Jones

Either a great DT or a first and I’ll pull the switch

My unpopular decision would be to double ticket prices because I know the lemmings will pay it.

Why not......Commanders fans pay over 100 bucks to sit 1 section above nosebleeds and they haven’t been relevant since 1991

I'd make Charlotte Jones Anderson my personal assistant and pay the cheerleaders better. I'd then promote Will McClay to GM. I think that move alone will set off a chain reaction of activity to Will's liking, like replacing the HC.

Id let Dak play out this season and transition tag him in 2020. Then match highest offer. Only because that would end up being cheaper.

When your Superbowl aspirations are tied solely to your running back it doesn't workout to well.

Adrian Peterson.
Curtis Martin.
Barry Sanders.
Earl Campbell.

Just to name a few. So that decision he made was ridiculous.

If a team is going to submit an offer, they are going to put an offer in that the Cowboys likely wouldn't match. Otherwise they'd be wasting their time..in turn, turning your idea to poop

I'd trade Garrett to one of those 5 ficticious teams Jerry claims was standing in line to sign him......................ohhhh, you said "unpopular"....this would be a very "popular" decision.......my bad.

I’d keep things just as they are, no doubt an unpopular decision. I like the direction and leadership over the last 5 years.

I understand the progression of this team not happening quick enough for people, me included, but I won’t penalize anyone for what happened 6 or 7 years ago, if you wanted to get rid of multiple people then, then fine, I’m completely with you. But that didn’t happen, and the team from top to bottom got better, so let’s judge everyone for where the franchise is right now.

The fact is what is going on “now” with this team is almost completely positive. From talent infusion, to 3 division titles in 5 years, to transitioning from HOF talents to one of the youngest teams in the league while still winning, this squad is on an upward trajectory ... big time.

I believe the table is set, and everyone should expect success ... right now. If the team fails in that endeavor, I do believe changes at the top are warranted, but not until that failure is a fact, not just negative conjecture.

This year feels like one where a lot of questions will be answered, for better or worse. I personally am betting this year will be special.

Here are a couple of options for you guys to ponder:

Try to trade Witten and Sean Lee (who I think have little value) when a team suffers an injury in trading camp. I’m moving either one for any compensation I can get.

Byron Jones is the most dispensable significant asset we have. He gets moved for a first round pick if it’s offered.

Amari Cooper. Yes, I know he was our complete offense last year which is also why he may fetch a king’s ransom. We have some young guys and an upgraded receiver corps and some speed in UDFAs. If I can get a first and a second he’s gone. Cobb may make a bigger difference than people expect.

L. Collins. If I can get a 2nd out of him he is gone before the season starts. Some OT hungry team might pay it.

I'd get rid of Rowdy, judging from the Avatars on here, that'd be hugely unpopular.

As this is a slow time of year for legitimate news, I thought it might be fun to engage in a hypothetical scenario to encourage conversation and debate. Before we get started, I'd like to preface by telling everyone that it's simply an expertise, with no real impact or weight. Don't get worked up about it! This is simply an exercise for fun, and based on individual opinions. There is no right or wrong answer.

Here the scenario, "You have the Comm", you steer the Cowboys ship and can do whatever you'd like.

What one decision would you make that you can safely assume would be unpopular with many of your fellow Cowboys fans, but one that you feel would be in the team's best interests long term?

For example, would you trade Prescott rather than paying him?

Would you trade or cut another player on the team?

Would you give Garrett an extension before or during the season?

Something along those lines.

Here's mine:

I would try to showcase Byron Jones for a trade rather than attempting to re-sign him. My thinking is this. I believe that it is more about Kri Richard's techniques, player attributes, and system than it is about first round athletic talent. And it is more about aggressiveness and physicality than it is about pure speed. I think that Richard is capable of developing cornerbacks who are good enough that the team won't have to pay what would likely be another huge contract to keep Jones.

And I think that process has already begun. I think he has systematically restocked the cornerback room with "his guys", and players who meet his athletic requirements. He has kept Donovan Olumba on the roster, and added Michael Jackson in the draft, along with UDFA Chris Westry' "his kind of guys".

I believe that the Cowboys made one mistake in this year's draft, they decided to take Tony Pollard ahead of Houston CB Isaiah Johnson. I think they had a decision to make on which player they needed to draft first, and they guessed wrong. I can only speculate, but I believe that Pollard would have been there with their second fourth round pick whereas Johnson was drafted by the Raiders immediately after the Pollard pick. I think they'd like to have that one back (though they'd never admit it!)

The cornerback position is entering a transition period, much like wide receivers did. Players were shipped out and replaced and I think Richard is doing the same with his corners. Jones and Anthony Brown are due for free agency next year and I think the team is actively pursuing replacements for either or both.

This is not a knock on Jones, a fine player and upstanding person, he's a great team guy. But I think the team is faced with having too many big contracts to pay out, and something has got to give. I'd make the decision to trade Byron Jones for what I could get in draft capital for next season and not have to worry about that big contract or losing him for a 2021 comp pick. I realize it would be short term pain for a team I think can contend, but I trust that as he did with Jones and Awuzie, Richard could quickly have a capable replacement ready to step in.

I know it won't be popular, hence the premise of this thread, but that's the way I'd play it.

Anyone else have any unpopular decisions they'd make?
I would bench the entire OL, start Garrett at QB and watch him get pummeled....that just brought a smile to my face

I would trade Zeke. And draft his replacement in the 2020 draft. I don't believe that he's worth the money it would take to keep him. I would rather get something for him then have him sit out and walk like Bell.

I'd hire a team of NFL gurus to find the best Offensive Coordinator in the league and I would hire that guy..........
