I think some team would give a first for Zeke.
I respectfully disagree. Too much off the field baggage, he wants a crap ton of money, and he has a lot of miles on the running back odometer for a younger guy.

I’d think you’d be lucky to get a 2nd at this point. He has more value to the Cowboys than any other team. You won’t get what he is worth on the field because of those 3 things I mentioned.

1. I think Zeke is a stud.
2. I dont think you need a stud RB to be successful in the NFL.
3. The problem in Dallas is the same at RB, QB, WR, TE, DE. They have to pay the studs because the dropoff from the stud to the backup is monumental. If they had a decent backup for Zeke, they could play hardball. We can all wish Tony Pollard is a guy but he was more of a gadget player than a bellcow running back in college.

Conclusion: I think Zeke is a knucklehead in general but I support his stance. He needs to get paid and I'm not sure the Cowboys are very good without him.

This is exactly what I think as well. No GM in the league would end his career trading for that headache, especially at the cost.

But Cowboys fans will like to talk like teams would beat down the door to give up a 1st round pick, set the top end of the running back market, and then not sleep while they await the next off-field screw-up.

Not happening.

Elliott and the Cowboys are stuck with one another.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when your QB isn't the most important (and best) player on the field. Zeke and his agent know that and they are taking advantage of the situation.

I'd rather go on without Zeke than cave and see what Dak can do. In addition, there comes a point of diminishing returns when a player skips camp. It's just too hard to step in on day 1 and be in shape and acclimated to football, not to mention the new OC.

" somebody leaning down on the opened refrigerator door ,just standing there ,patiently waiting for the chilled victuals (by their own accord, mind you) just to Jump right out& into the hungry dullards Pie-Hole" ,,,SHEESE:facepalm:

I think this is actually the wrong wording Zrin.

My point being is that a player holding out while on contract is the same as the team cutting a player while he is under contract. People can say that contracts are set up this way all they want ...... But it's the owners who have made all the rules so of course it's easy for them.

We all know that these owners will not give up one iota of power ...... So I do not think for one second that they are hampered by the rules they themselves made ...... I have come to realize they use the salary cap as a way to keep spending low and then Pretend they just have no choice.

When teams honor contracts, I'll hold players to the same standard.

And just how many actual player contracts have you personally read? If there wasn't a clause in ALL player contracts that allow teams to terminate the contract for need, then the courts would be full of cases from players taking teams to court for terminating their contracts. Players don't have any clauses that allow them to not fulfill their contracts.

Every team thats ever cut a player before his contract expires?

This is flat, not true. The TERMS of the contract are what dictate what happens. I mean, how many times must we go over this? Contracts are written differently. If a player and/or an agent comes to the team and says, we want more money up front and in exchange, we will accept a contract with unguaranteed money on the back end, what's wrong with that? I mean, the players want the most money up front they can get and honestly, most of them want to hit FA as early as possible because they believe that this will allow them to take advantage of another contract and more guaranteed money up front. I mean, I don't get it, if you don't want to sign a contract the way it's set up, you don't have to. You can rework the deal through negotiation before you sign it.

...I do like the sound of a "prove it" contract...for Zeke (or any other player for that matter.)...Zeke's past play is important...but how he's gonna play in the future is now more important....I see this type of contract as a way of possibly bringing the two sides together!
