I’m more worried about the instincts. That’s what I’ve always had a fear about him. I don’t care about the swoop dance or whatever. I want the player that tackled the RB against NO last year at the goal line and knocked him out.

I hope the new regime has him rush the passer a lot. That’s his best gift.

I don’t think it’s instincts. I think his issue is not wanting to do the dirty works LBs need to do. He just wants to fly around, avoid contact, and blow a couple people up each week. The guy knows exactly what he is doing out there.

His stats look good no doubt. So did our offensive stats and parts of the defensive stats. And there were issues throughout on both sides of the ball that caused us problems all season.

I think if any season has proven that you have to look beyond the stats this was the one. There are examples of that all over this past year. Jaylon is no doubt one of them.

I’ll also agree that he gets a lot of hate because of his personality and I’m guilty of that as well. But at times his play was not up to par either.

jaylons noticeable (at times) impediments, and critical lack of self awareness overshadowed a pretty remarkable season. I think he sorely missed LVE beside him, but the slander and outright hatred is pretty overblown

His rookie year the play went this way and he went the other. Even LB’s with no athletic ability can diagnose plays. I think he’s lived his whole life on athletic ability that it’s finally caught up to him. I hope Edwards coaches him up.

So there's some threads and posts floating around that are flat out ludacris. A guy just posted that Jaylon is an embarrassment to the organization so I feel compelled to offer you this:

Player A: 144 tackles (81 solo), 0 sacks. 2 ints

Player B: 142 tackles (83 solo), 2.5 sacks, 1 ints

Player A is Luke Kuechly
Player B is Jaylon Smith

Jaylon had the 6th most tackles in the entire NFL (3 solo tackles behind league leader Bobby Wagner; largely regarded as the best LB in the NFL). Jaylon also had .5 less sacks and the same number of INTs as Wagner.

To say Jaylon is an embarrassment to this organization is an embarrassing thing to say - the guy isn't even in his prime yet and had to deal with idiots like Robert Quinn not being able to stop the run or screens to save his damn life (the guy had 26 solo tackles in 2019). Quinn was sack hunting the whole season so he could get a big contract & it compromised this whole defense (especially the LBs - in my opinion). I get some of you are in love with Quinn because sacks (the most overrated thing in all of football) make people fall in love with players. If I'm the Cowboys I couldn't get rid of Quinn fast enough & this Jaylon Smith slander needs to stop - it's ridiculous.

Jaylon is embarrassing when he jumps up and down celebrating for making a pass breakup when they are down 20 points. And then gets burnt for the TD on the next play. Jaylon is embarrassing when he calls himself a HOTBOY!!! LOL

As far as the Kuechly stats you just put up there, it should be noted that Kueckly retired because he said he simply cNRt play up to his standards anymore.

It should also be noted that MLbers typically lead their team in tackles.

Sack are now overrated? Quinn is a DE FYI........not a linebacker. And it should also be noted that Jaylon got burnt often in the run game. Although I fully concur that Quinn is bad there.

As long as the girls and boys think he is pretty and he is making pro bowls, Jaylon seems to be content.

I thought pro bowls didnt count? I thought stats didnt matter? Empty stats when 142 tackles leads your team to an 8-8 record.

Jaylon Smith is average. :lmao2::lmao2:

He does. Watch the games. Especially the second half of the season. 54 got real creative to avoid contact. Go find the other post on Smith from last week. Guys attached a lot of videos showing this.
I can find video of a few bad plays for every player in the entire NFL.:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:

Hey, when he isn't blowing people up, he is avoiding contact. That makes sense somewhere, just not here.
Maybe he’s half blind so when he’s attempting to avoid the tackle he actually avoids the wrong person and runs into the person with the ball.

Funny how a few stats are posted about Jaylon and he’s a legitimate Pro Bowler. Post a few stats that put Dak in a good light and he’s still a scrub. I guess Dak didn’t “brand” himself good enough to make the Pro Bowl this year, if only he begged for more attention and sold some sun glasses on the side he may have won the popularity contest.
