I agree, BUT, this should lead most to believe that Garrett is going to be the HC. I can not explain why they have not announced him as the HC yet though.

Well, that much is true... however, you ignore one FACT, and one logical assumption:

1) FACT-- Jerry CHANGED the way he did things when he hired Parcells... and at the time, he candidly admitted that he HAD to change, because what he'd done wasn't working...

2) Asumption-- as you said, he had "horrid results" with his old modus operandi... unless he's an idiot, he realizes that too... so, why would you assume that he'd be eager to go back to what didn't work for him before??

All I've said was that the hiring of an assistant before the HC is like he did in the past. I can't help it if that caused many of you to start foaming at the mouth.

I have absolutely no beef with Jimmy at all, in fact I hold him in some reverence...

I'm simply countering some ridiculous hero worship of the guy, the contention that the Cowboys only won because of him, and Jerry had little to nothing to do with it...

I don't think anyone thinks Dallas won ONLY because of Jimmy. He also had a great coaching staff, great scouting dept, some guys like Irvin and Ken Norton, for instance, were already here, we had the #1 pick the year he arrived and were able to take Aikman, obviously the Walker trade.

No, it's not just about Jimmy. But the notion that Jerry was the main cog that made the decisions in those days just like he did after Jimmy left is extremely ridiculous.

I believe we could've easily won in the 90's with all the other factors, minus Jerry. The reverse...not so much.

Without Jerry, the other factors wouldn't have been in place...

Yeah...Jerry gets credit for buying the team, hiring Jimmy and then letting Jimmy bring in his staff and allowing the football people to do their jobs.

And, we do have some who think Jerry was the main cog. For instance, they suggest that the only reason Jimmy didn't win a SB in Miami was because Jerry wasn't there as GM.

and it looks like VA is at least admitting jerry was a part of those teams who won. yesterday i put him on ignore simply because he refused to acknowlege jones as any part of it.
