I would not take Favre over Brady. I would not take Favre over Troy. Favre put up stupid stats but he also threw critical INTs in important situations. He forced it because he could not see the wisdom in playing to live another day.

that's just my opinion.

Fair...

Favre on a heater is the best QB I've ever seen but he did have a lot of no Brett no moments.

He should've won the Superbowl in Minny.

Kevin Glover and Lomas Brown, multi time Pro Bowlers/All Pros.

Only HoF'er for Dallas O-Line is....Larry Allen. Who didn't start playing until Emmitt's 4th year in the league.

'I was just a journeyman offensive linemen until Emmitt came along and then all of the sudden I became an All-Pro.' - Nate Newton

I am not saying Emmitt was bad.

I don't think HOF is exactly the be all end all for how great you are. You can look at a few positions that do not have a lot of HOF players at them. Erik Williams was pretty dominant. He also was able to head slap people He also did a lot of cocaine. Mark Tunei was pretty good. Newton was good as well. Step was great.

Do you know Barry Sanders had pro bowlers on his OL?

Here's a stat for you to look up. Who has more negative yards, Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smith?
We can have different opinions. I think Jim Brown is the #1 back ever followed by Sweetness, Barry and Emmitt.

Its Smith...all the way to 3 SB's. I also always really admired Eric Dickerson...perfect blend of Power and Grace. Dorsett was my boy!! Complicated ain't it.:). No Cowboy fan could ever not love Smith!!

Dickerson, playing with today's rules would be the all time leader IMO, as well. I don't believe he was the best. I believe Campbell was the best, but he had way too short a career. He just sustained too much punishment but when he came out, he was terrifying. Never seen a defense more afraid of a RB more then Campbell. I never saw Jim Brown so maybe him but I can't say for sure because I didn't see it.

Yeah. Campbell was another favourite of mine. Completely different styles. Man, l loved Earl Campbell. Hard to honestly compare such emotionally inspiring players. I couldn't argue it.

Ok..

Can you remember a game we won without Emmitt? I can remember winning without Troy.. Never without Emmitt...

That Oline was great. I'm not going to deny it but a famous quote from the 90's from Nate Newton was that they were just a bunch of guys until Emmitt got there.

Also, name Jerry Rice's QB's for most of his career.. Now name Moss's.

My problem is that Emmitt gets graded on a different scale than Jerry Rice when they are the exact same player.
I see your point but I think Barry was better than Emmitt. If Jimmy would have had Barry he would have killed it. Not taking anything away from Emmitt but Detroit was a bad place to be...just ask Megatron..

So basically a what if situation. Sort of like if your aunt had nuts she'd be your uncle, right?

Well, Emmitt played 5 years longer than Barry for starters. He ended up with about 3000 more yards than Barry. Barry averaged 5 yards per carry and had about as many receiving yards as Emmitt. I'm just saying that had Barry played on the Cowboys he would have the rings and all.

Then maybe Barry shouldn't have QUIT. How is a quitter better than the BEST RB of all time??? Stop with the what ifs already, real life is about what you did, not what you could have done.

Did Emmit have anyone drafted higher than the 3rd round on his OL? Did Emmit have castoffs from other teams on his OL? Are any of Emmits great wall on the HOF? They were great as a unit. They had great coaching. But lets not act like they were 5 blue chippers. Other guys ran behind this same OL when Emmit was out....and did not look like a HOFer. And Emmit also blocked and caught passes. Emmit also got a steady 4+ yards. Emmit was savage around the goaline and in short yardage. Barry was electric....but give me Emmit all day. And during Barrys prime...the Lions had the highest paid OL in the league.

I couldn't of said it any better myself.

In fact, when I bring these facts forth to my friends regarding this debate, they shut up real quick.

I first ask them to name as many of the offensive linemen that Emmitt ran behind. Some of them can only name one and it's Larry Allen. Of course they have no idea that he wasn't in Dallas until 94.

Of course, they all assumed that most of the offensive linemen that they couldn't name was in the Hall of Fame.

It's just ignorance in full display especially given the fact that they are the one's that usually bring up what player ran behind what offensive line.
