1310 Ticket Ticker: Carpenter and Spears being shopped at Senior Bowl

the Ireland quote was posted on here, cuz I remember reading it, and how he reference his KC days

Stanback much bigger than Dante Hall. I really don't know how you can say they are the same player.

What you guys are referring to is Ireland's comparisons to Anquan Boldin. He said Stanback could be a faster Anquan Boldin.

No, you're confused.

Those were mostly in pass rushing situations. In those cases he is a mismatch for guards.
Nice try at spin control.

The player that really excited Jeff Ireland was Isaiah Stanback. He had seen him play QB 3 or 4 times, but when the area scout brought back a tape of him, Ireland "got chills up and down his arm." They went back and put together a reel of him playing WR and they would stop the tape regularly and talk about him and his vision for the game. He talked about Stanabck as a good kid who they think can transition to WR, but they might line him up as a QB some and use him as a returner on special teams. This lead to a discussion about Stanback and comparisons to Anquan Boldin.

Again, you're confused. This is not at all what Bob was referencing.

Have a nice evening.

His exact quote:

"He reminds me a little bit of [Pro Bowl returner] Dante Hall when I was at Kansas City."

Hardly gushing. He's just trying to draw a comparison. I don't see how that makes him a Jeff Ireland pick. He wasn't gushing over him like he was Stanback (or like Parcells was on that phone call with Green).

whatever the case may be, the triumverate of Jerry Jones, Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland screwed the pooch on the Skylar Green pick

Back on topic.

Trading Spears for anything less than a # 1 is a bad decision, besides I have his jersey damnit!!! He free's up the OLB to get sacks, he's the unsung hero here and he plugs up the run.

Trading Carpenter is a bad call in me guts, he needs to be rotated in with either Ellis or Ware. The guy is a play maker and when Ellis is gone 1 or 2 years from now he's gonna be needed, patience grasshoppers..

That happens sometimes.

No its not spin. Carp uses his speed and quickness in pass rushing situations, but when you play the run game you need to be stronger and tougher so you can shed more easily.

I agree, for that matter Spears might be a better 3-4 NG than a DE. I think he should gain 15 pounds and give it a try. Who would have thought that the LB we gave up for a 7th rounder (Shanle) might have more value than the one we took in the 1st.

Actually I am The Shanle believer and back off that angle but lets revisit that move.

Shanle is a Romanowskie like football dude, did everything asked of him and played over his talent level. PERFORMED, an old school warrior. Walk on at Nebraska. Pissed on for no good reason.

And team see's this kid traded away for a bag of footballs and in comes Carpenter who sniffs his Parcells pedigree name all haired out and mustached out, and proceeds to sucks.......

Then the Shanle lights it up in 2006 for Saints. Same with Ayodele in over Burnett. Just bad team chemistry moves.

Glad to see Wade/JJ shopping Carp. Cut bait on your mistakes.

If someone can ever dig the video up,

Of JJ and co calling Stanbach after drafting him,

someone asked him if he thought he could play WR RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE on the phone call? That floored me at the time as - hello and very odd? Almost as if they never had talked to him about it.....

Scott Shanle in nickel allows Burnett to start.....
This seems completely backwards. Why would you want to play Burnett only on 1st and 2nd downs? He's best in coverage and worst against the run.

I'd answer, but your head would explode. I can't have that on my conscience.
