1310 Ticket Ticker: Carpenter and Spears being shopped at Senior Bowl

The way Parcells was all giggly on that phone call makes me think otherwise.

you didn't hear Ireland ramble on and on about how Skylar reminded him of Dante Hall, when he scouted him while he was w/ the Chiefs?

BP not warming up to him, and releasing him quicker than a Jack Rabbit, only reinforces who's pick Skylar was

Actually, I completely missed that. But I don't think BP turning on him meant he didn't want him. BP turned on Spears pretty quickly, but we all know he wanted him at #11.

I don't think Parcells "turned on" Skyler at all. He even brought the kid back and tried him at running back, for crying out loud.

Can you find where Ireland went on and on about Skyler? Dont recall seeing that. Stanback OTOH, I've heard Ireland literally drool over.

Spears might be a better 4-3 DT - someone may value him. Maybe a 3rd.

Carpenter - there is enough tape on him around the NFL. Will be lucky to get a 7th for him.

I agree, for that matter Spears might be a better 3-4 NG than a DE. I think he should gain 15 pounds and give it a try. Who would have thought that the LB we gave up for a 7th rounder (Shanle) might have more value than the one we took in the 1st.

The idea that Carpenter doesn't fit a 3-4 defense is silly. He's a perfect fit for a 3-4 defense. He's fast and he's big. That's what you need in a 3-4 ILB. His problem is just that he's not that good, which doesn't make him a good fit for any pro defense.

As a 3-4 ILB you have to be tough to take on guards, and Carp is not tough enough supposedly, nor is he strong enough to shed blocks and make tackles in the run.

So no your wrong he is not a fit in the 3-4. You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

you're gonna have to ask superpunk, or one of the Advanced Search wiz kids, to find the quote, but for now, just gonna have to trust my noggin

You're one of the more interesting posters I've ever come across.

I'll leave my comments at that.

Ditto. I think he's confusing the two.

the weakside, inside LB in Wade's D is supposed to shoot gaps and run sideline to sideline, which is the position Carp is at

Interesting. Take on Guards like a DT as an ILB. Seems to me last year against Seattle, his best game, he played some DT.

Seriously, who cares?
Is this what it's come to in the offseason?

Those were mostly in pass rushing situations. In those cases he is a mismatch for guards.

in what shape or form does Stanback compare w/ Dante Hall?
Yeah, I'm finding a few bits about him comparing him to Dante Hall. But that doesn't mean he was gushing over him. He may just be trying to draw comparisons in terms of physical nature, etc.

the Ireland quote was posted on here, cuz I remember reading it, and how he reference his KC days

His exact quote:

"He reminds me a little bit of [Pro Bowl returner] Dante Hall when I was at Kansas City."

Hardly gushing. He's just trying to draw a comparison. I don't see how that makes him a Jeff Ireland pick. He wasn't gushing over him like he was Stanback (or like Parcells was on that phone call with Green).
