Its kinda funny, if your in the mood for it. We give Tony a chance to make a free agency tour, and we can't even spend the money til free agency is pretty much over.

Give him a chance to win a SB, and we can't even do it with the money we get ourselves.

We can still use the money for Martin, draft picks and if any surprise releases pop up. It also helps us more in 2018.

So realistically we have like 8-9 million? 5-6 is for our rookie pool

We should, we just made someone else's free agency period by releasing Romo for nothing.

Yet we don't care. We are such a dominant unbeatable team......that we don't care.

Yeah right.

What are all you guys crying for. We got Dak...We got Zeke... We got Dez... We got Witten.
What else could you want. The OL and Zeke will lead us to the promised land... I heard it on this board many times.

For clarity, I think right now we are ~8.3 million under the cap not counting Romo. After Romo is released we would have a total of ~13.4 million (8.3 + 5.1 mill) if pre June 1st cut. But if it is true that he will be considered a post June 1st cut, then we will get 14 million more after June 1 (8.3 current + an additional 14 mill after June 1st).

According to Stephen, the Cowboys will never be major players in FA again. It rarely worked out for them. They will build
through the draft and only try to fill in holes in FA with minor league contracts. That's the new Cowboy way and if you can't
take that, the Deadskins board is looking for free spenders.

We don't have to go full Giants/Skins mode, but we also don't have to go shopping at a flea market.

We have hit on some good things in the draft, but at this point, are they getting cocky about it. This year, we could draft a total bust, and guess what, we are the same team as last year while other teams are getting better. We just lost in our first round playoff game, and not going to improve any position on the team, just praying for the draft.

Thats Ricky Bobby smart right there.

You just can't avoid FA completely when you've completely whiffed on all your high round defensive picks.

I would take the 5.1 million now that could be the difference in retaining church , Wilcox , or McClain . We can just convert Wittens contract and free up the money for the rookie class at a later time. We'll have plenty of money for Martin next year.

I am cool with Butler, Moore, a cheap vet CB (Carr?), a cheap vet S(Church or Wilcox) and this guy:

If the guys you mention are getting really nice contracts to sign, I think Stephen wishes them well and have a nice career. If they want to come back to a one year deal like Butler then he says ....come on down.

They won't spend it, be prepared for 10 to 15 undrafted free agents making the team this year

Will he take the vet minimum? Otherwise, we aren't allowed to have him.

Its crazy for us to get worse this offseason, and hope we hit the lottery in the draft like last year. Make no bones about it, we are a worse team without Romo an option behind Dak.
