I think was better overall today just like last Sunday. We outshot, outchanced and outhit the US.

Our goalie did not give up 3 bad goals unlike last Sunday so we won.

Sucks that it's over, insomnia sucks and nothing cures insomnia quicker then curling and figure skating.

Was pretty exciting hockey game today, thought for sure the US was going to get it done after the miracle goal with 24 seconds left. Great effort by both squads but the better team won.

I thought international hockey was played on a bigger rink.

It would have cost the canucks something like 12 million to expand the rinks so they got permission from the olympic folks to use the smaller ice surface.

Anyway, well played to Canada. I was pissed until I saw Toews get his medal. Crysby will get the credit, but JT was unbelievably good this tournament. What a ****in player we have here in Chicago. I knew he was good, but his performance was a cut above his allstar teammates.

About the olympic tournament, it finally convinced me that Joe Thornton is useless when the games matter. Ive never seen a softer 6'3 240 player in any sport in my life.

I love the way Toews played this tournament. He really reminds me of Steve Yzerman....clutch player who does a lot of thing right, with excellent offensive ability. He is going to be good for a long time. Chicago has a great team, highlighted by Toews and Kane.

One other thing on the rule changes. I don't like that they went to 4-on-4 in OT. I knew they did that in NHL in the 5 minute OTs, but they don't do it in the playoffs.

Were the international rules already like that? Or did they just change them for these games, like the rink sizes?

CCF has gotten under some of your skins and I would say justifiably so with some definite anti-Americanism. I won't defend his words at all as much of it is indefensible.

In terms of representing Canada, CCF does not represent Canada anymore than say some random scum in prison would represent the USA.

Damn straight about Toews. He was terrific.

Chicago's Toews and Kane were definitely on display out there. They didn't disappoint.

Amazing what lesser heralded players can sometimes achieve when the stakes are raised...unlike my boys on the Caps....not so great a show out of Ovechkin, Semin, and the rest of the Russian "team".

European rinks are bigger, 200 by 100. NA rinks are 200 by 85. Not sure if Salt Lake City was big or not.

Hockey on the big rinks is hard to watch, no hitting, trap all over etc.

He was ripped quite a bit by fans but winning has softened much of the criticism.

I thought the cards were lining up for you all after we hit two posts early in the third and Crosby flubbed his late breakaway.

I think 4 on 4 for 20 minutes was already in existence.

The size of the rink lost quite a bit of its benefit when NHLers got to the NHL. I know the Europeans grow up on that lake err ice rink but since 3/4 of the players in the tournament are in the NHL or at least were, playing on the small rink no longer gives Canada and the USA any advantage.

When you say Canucks, do you mean the team that owns the building or Vanoc?

The real reason is that they would have lost a ton of seats and revenue.

Perhaps, but playing on the large rinks probably gives the Europeans an edge.

With the increased skill level of Canadians over time, perhaps that advantage isn't as big as it used to be. We seem to do well at the world Juniors whether at home or on the road.

Um, we are the most skilful players around and have been since the dawn of time, we just play with a harder edge. No european has been more skilled the Lemieux, Gretzky, Mau Richard, Gordie Howe, Guy Lafleur, Jean Beliveau etc

Not sure where the myth started that Europeans have the skill and we just the grit started. .

What a game yesterday. Team Canada did us proud! The Americans were awesome as well. A please to watch the game played at such a high level.

However, the closing ceremonies after Neil Young were an embarrassment.
