Thiago 'Everyone blocks my dunks' Splitter has no business making 40+million. Spurs are obviously not of sound mind since the Finals loss.

Spurs keep Splitter.

5 years / $45 million

Ouch.

It's actually 4y/36M - much better. Bigs are expensive in this league. Really expensive. People look at the Finals, which was a bad matchup for Tiago - but forget the WCF against Memphis, when he was outstanding. It's a good contract for Tiago and a starting big man.

Seriously, splitter pissed me off in the finals, but he just wasn't the kind of player for the style that had to be played. He is only gonna get better. 9 mil a year for a really good pick and roll defending big man is about right. I personally don't have a problem with it, I didn't forget how we'll he played in the first 3 rounds, despite his horrible finals

Read that the salary for a starting PF/C is 9M. The average salary for an all-star is 12M, so he's right where he needs to be. I also hear the Spurs are a front runner to land Oden, which I would love. That's such a low-risk, high-reward move. He's 25 y/o, and when he was healthy (which is never, I know) he was about 12/8 in 21 minutes a game. You don't give up on a 25 year old guy #1 draft pick, whose problem isn't motivation or talent. His body has betrayed him so far, but if you can sign him to a reasonable deal and see if he can develop and shake the injuries, you have a huge steal.

Ya I hope we get oden. The talent is there, with some luck and good docs, maybe he can at least be productive for a few years

Ya, I reserve all judgement on the Manu deal until I have the financials. As long as its not more than 5 a year ill be ok with it.

Most importantly, we will have INSANE cap space in 2 years!

Hearing from twitter it's a 2 year 14 mil deal. That's a bit high for my taste, but hopefully the front office knows what it's doing

They still have the full MLE to work with, and they weren't going to be able to have much more than that, anyway. Wonder how it's structured for Manu, anyway. But, yeah, at the end of 2015, we're going to have TP (they'll extend him) and Leonard on huge deals, and about ten spots to fill.

We got Bellinelli, 2 years 6 million......i am happy. I like Neal, sad to see him go, but its best for both parties. I hope Neal goes to Atlanta with Coach Bud....or maybe Indiana to give their bench a boost.

I'm not 100% on this, but the is a chance we had to use the MLE on Belineli, so I don't know how much AK is looking for, but we can't offer the full MLE. As for Oden, I'm pretty sure he is gonna get more than the minimum, including from the spurs. So I don't think we can get both unless the spurs were able to fit Belineli under the cap and then use the MLE on oden/AK

There's so much confusion on how the Belinelli contract is structured. I've heard MLE, I've heard the room exemption, also. I don't have any idea how much money they have left. But, I hope it's enough for AK.

ya, i hope we can get him also, we really need a backup SF, AK would be a great fit. I really cant think of anyone else, but i couldnt think of belineli before yesterday, and he is a great addition to replace neal, who is getting bigger offers than the spurs are comfortable with, apparently.

Yeah, Beli wasn't anywhere near the radar that I knew of. And it was about 20 minutes from the time Woj broke that we were in serious talks to the time when we had signed a two-year deal. Nobody gets inside info on the Spurs. Ignore any "rumors" you think you know.

I like Calderon, although he isn't a good defender, so he'll have a tough time staying with quick PGs like TP and Conley, but he is an excellent shooter, he and dirk will have some nice pick and rolls going. Looks like Bynum might be the mavs plan B.

Calderon to the Mavs.... not a bad move.

Yep.

Andrew Bynum is next, but with some protection precautions in the contract if his knees pass the inspection.

They have not ruled out Monte Ellis yet either

Ellis is a BAD idea for the mavs, they'd have one of the worst defensive teams if they had him, Calderon AND dirk starting
