Good Win Tonight.
Good start for them, interesting to see how they'll play the rest of the year. They'll certainly keep scoring but I'm curious if their lack of D will catch up to them and how they'll do when they get into the meat of their schedule and tougher conference games.
Their D was bad in the second half too, they just played a bunch of teams from the East who can't score in March and April. They gave up at least 4 goals in 7 of their last 8 games in February, and 8 of 13 total. There "lack of D" was mostly national media hyperbole from their issues early last season. If you go look at how they played the second half of the season, their D wasn't anywhere near as bad as the national media made it out to be. Hell, defensively they were in the upper half of the league at the end of the season. Their biggest issue at the end of the year was goal tending.
This year, the defense is playing somewhat similar to the end of last year and so far (subtract game 2) and their goal tending is far better too.
They are tied for first in the murder, death, kill (i.e. central) division and that is exactly how they are playing. If you look a the two teams they are tied with. I believe both of them have played a much weaker schedule thus far.

I don't see how teams could play a much worse schedule than Dallas lol. In 6 games, they've played COL, EDM, FLA and PHI, who are all terrible. But, by and large, it's too early to play the schedule game anyways.
Goaltending and defense are the same thing.I watched every single game last year. Their defense at the end of the year was substantially better than the mediots make it out to have been. It was their goal tending was ****. Hence why the Stars now have $10M/year in goal tending. (far more than any other team)
What I'm saying is, stats lie in the NHL just like they do in the NFL. Though if you ask most fans, they think stats are king and why so many fans think they know better than the coaching staffs do.

It's nice to see Sharp get some goals. This team is fun to watch, and it's great to see them have some early season success. Hopefully, they keep this going, and beat the Sharks on Saturday.
