2015 Houston Astros Thread

McHugh and McCullers are pretty darn good as well. I am loving those 4 arms in our rotation.

3 wins over the Angels....sweet. I am ok with the Kazmir trade, even though we gave up some decent prospects.

As far as the trade with the Mets, can anyone with any knowledge tell me if the players we got are worth the prospects we gave up?

Trade with the Brewers and he is decent, better than what they had.

yes the brewers....my bad.....I was still thinking about the botched trade between the brewers and mets and got those players mixed up.....but now I remember, the mets player cried like a bunch of women watching Steel Magnolias.

well the one player is an OF, but from what I understand, he is hurt right now. They also got a pitcher, but is he any good?

the pitcher is an inning eater, that is about it. Gomez isn't injured really, just banged up a bit.

Agree on Cueto. I don't think he would cost a mint either.

Well, he did. Three top pitching prospects for Cueto. He is now the 1# for the Royals and they were already pretty good. KC with the addition of Cueto now has a Playoff Pitching Staff.

This is shaping up to be a fun next couple of months, with both the Cowboys and the Astros!

Really happy about the Cueto pickup but I wish they would have picked up one more starter instead of getting Zobrist. Our bullpen is still top notch even though Holland has showed some chinks this year but the rotation has been really shaky, one more quality starter and I would have felt really good going into the post season. That said I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to feel going into the post season since last year was the first time its happened since I was a kid.

I just can't believe how fast this club has turned it around. Jeff Luhnow may be the best GM in pro sports today.

As of today (8-3) Houston is projected to end the season at 92-70.

I would have called it a successful season playing .500 ball and very successful season with 85 wins. Breaking 90 wins would be stunning.

If the season ended today, the Astros would be playing the Yankees, and with 2 tough left-handers at the top of their rotation, the Astros would offer a strong challenge.

Carlos Correa with the game winning hit in the bottom of the 13th. That kid is something else and only 20 yrs old.

Him and Altuve are the best 2nd base 3rd base tandem in MLB.

Well, Carlos plays SS but I get your gist :)

I was wondering what they would do when Lowrie came back, seems 3rd is a nice fit for him.......that is a darn good infield, just need a better 1st baseman for the future.

I hope Springer comes back soon. He's a walking line drive.

Yeah 1st base is a "hole". Carter can't do the job. I have little faith in Singleton either. There are a couple kids that could be it. Or they may flip some of their minor-league depth for a better first baseman... but I would guess one of the kids will get the first opportunity.

Springer was cleared for "baseball activities" last Friday. I have not seen/heard the time-table for his return to the starting lineup. They're probably going to give him a week or two to strengthen the wrist and then send him down for a few games to get back into the swing of things.

Mike Fiers just threw a no hitter against the Dodgers. It's the first no hitter for an Astros pitcher since Darryl Kile back in 93.
