Only Lakers available for a trade (who have any value) are Randle, Clarkson and Nance. Ball, Ingram and Kuzma are untouchable.
This has to be the most bizarre story of the year. Watch Fultz shoot in the background. That shot is completely broken.
Chris Paul leading a his army through the secret tunnells of Los Angeles definitely made my yearso nobody wants to talk about the clippers/rockets secret passage locker room fight that they had to call the cops for?
Magic has 2 ways to go.Some crazy talk from me: If the Lakers are serious about luring FA's, I think they should talk to Portland around the trade deadline. Portland is over the tax, and they have pretty much maxed out as a middling playoff team. There cieling is pretty much the second round. I think the Lakers should see what it takes to get them to part with Dame. Ingram and Ball are obvious. Randle would still be an asset at that point as Portland will get his Bird and contract control. KCP's salary with those makes a match. I might be willing to deal Kuzma if it got it done.
With Lilliard on hand, the Lakers would have a much easier time luring top FA's in the offseason. Once they shed Dengs deal, I believe they will be able to carry 3 max's. Lilliard and any combo of Lebron, George, and Boggie is a very compelling big 3.
For Portland, they arent getting out of the second round of the playoffs in the foreseeable future and they are paying a hefty price for is. They have Nurkic as a core player and age wise he fits better with Ingram and Ball then he does Dame.
If they are willing to take some contracts, they could probably get some young assets to supplement what they have. If they whiff in FA it kay be there best bet.Magic has 2 ways to go.
1 way is to chase quick success and LeBron.
This move would be geared in that direction.
The other is to keep the young nucleus together and just supplement it with solid veteran defenders.
Because none of the young studs can defend much.
I think I'd lean to keeping Zo, Ingram and Kuz.
Grab some Spurs-like role players who can defend and score when wide open.
But the loss of the high R1 this year does complicate a youth movement plan.
The Lakers already have their own bad contracts. Deng and Brook. If they are willing to take some contracts, they could probably get some young assets to supplement what they have. If they whiff in FA it kay be there best bet.
I see zero way CLE parts with that Brooklyn pick given that LBJ won't commit to re-signing there.Cavs expected to make a trade before the deadline. Will be interesting to see what they do. Some of what they could trade of their core ( Thompson, Smith, Shumpert) is a negative asset. At least one of two things they would have to do the make a serious trade IMO. Either 1) Sell low on Crowder. He has been pretty bad this. His contract is still great, but his play this year has put a dent in his value as a trade asset. However attaching him to Cleveland 1st may land a player that can help make a run 2) Trade the Brooklyn pick. Bad idea, but if they feel pressured to make a run with Lebron and to sell him on Cleveland long term, it could happen. Kemba Walker could be a target if this was to happen IMO.
Trade Machine Fun : Isaiah Thomas, Jose Calderon, Cedi Osman and the Brooklyn pick work for Kemba Walker.
Charlotte gets a prime pick and a young good looking rotational players to kick start a rebuild that is overdue. Cleveland gets the best contract in the NBA for 2 years in Walker ( 12 million per) Even if James leaves, Walker is a very valuable commodity at that price.
IT is on the business end of anothet trade, but thats life. Could see him getting moved to a contender in a separate trade, or getting another team involved
At this rate, they may not make the finals. I know they mail in the season, but this Cleveland team has some serious disfunction on the court. Mainly on the defense end and backcourt where Wall, Beal, Derozen, Lowery and Irving all loom in the playoffs.I see zero way CLE parts with that Brooklyn pick given that LBJ won't commit to re-signing there.
IT has terrible value right now.
I think it is far more likely CLE loses in the Finals again then signs and trades LBJ to wherever he wants to go. They recoup some youthful assets and take back some salary.
As far as AD, Grizzlies pick becomes unprotected the same year as Gordon Hayward's last year of his comtract . Thats if it doesnt convey next year or the year after. 2019 is top 8 protected. 2020 is top 6 protected. If the Grizzlies bottom out, they could be a top 5 lottery team over the next 4 years. Depends on what they do with Conley and Gasoli really dont like giving up picks unless its for a player like anthony davis
And getting ad is also a pipe dream..,.
Parting w the boston pick doesnt sting as much and evans is filthy so id be ok w it
cavs looking for suitors for JR right now like:So apparently The Cavs offered the Clippers JR Smith and Tristan Thompson for Lou Williams.
Im kind of at a loss on this one.
1) Is another small scorer really what they need? Especially one who's defense may be worse than IT's?
2) Do they not realize Tristan Thompson and JR Smith are pretty much negative assets? JR Smith was good once (literally), but he may be the worst starter in the NBA on both sides of the court right now. No one is giving up an asset to pay Smith 15 million a season the next two years
