2024-25 College Football Thread

there are way too many bowls as it is
Bowls are usual for the practice and development time but not much else.
You do get a head start on seeing your young guys.
And you get an idea of if your Coach can motivate.

all processes are flawed.
Giving so much cred to the SEC this year was a definite flaw
Bama with a new coaching staff did zero to get the free loss respect they got under Saban.
And they went out and demonstrated that 4 times.

Texas Tech drove a mack truck through Ole Miss and Kiffin in a Bowl game 2 years ago. That team is talented but suffers big let downs at an insane clip.

FWIW... Bowls up not down
Playoff meant more meaningful football and people stayed watching the sport.

easy fix. move CFP to 16 teams. Remove byes but have all 8 R1 games on campus.
attendance not an issue for those.

CFB attendance is often down to when students are on break or not. Tech sold out every home P4 game except when the students were away for Thanksgiving.
But travelling across country during a holiday is definitely going to damper totals.
12 is stupid; 16 is moronic

Funny how beating an SEC team is everyone's measuring stick.....but anyone who supports the conference is a homer. lol

Man, if TT ever beat Bama or UGA, you'd be talking about it for decades.

BS. If you cannot motivate in 12 games THAT is the REAL STORY

Its a measuring stick for people who want to work the sec homers like you

Having meaningful college football games at this time of the year is a wonderful thing!
I am so tired of the “Noone Cares Bowl” and the “Who Gives A Crap Bowl”.

12 playoff teams out of 134 possibilities isn’t bad at all. What’s wrong with that?

Did you have a problem when the NFL had 12 playoff teams but only 30 total teams?

12 is stupid; 16 is moronic
16 team playoff is coming, they are not going to go back to 8.the SEC "fans" *****ed for a whole month because they didnt get a 4th SEC team in the playoff, imagine how much *****ing the rest of us will have to endure if they only get 1 team in the 8 team playoff.

Every other level of football uses 24. Anything less than 12 is idiotic guessing games.
This was one of the most watched seasons in CFB history. Largely because so many teams had CFP shots.
Giving a ton of fanbases hope is how you grow and make more money which was always the point.

16 removes any Bye week dis{}advantages and lets you continue to award conf champs without the P2 crying even harder.

Tech beat Miss St in a bowl the year before Ole Miss and Cal the year after.
Beating Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch in a bowl game is their biggest pound Bowl moment, however.

I used that example because Lane Kiffin is a Jethro, like you, that drinks SEC Kool-Aid for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Just be glad you have the Big 12 team in year 1 to prop up that swamp rat league.

show me the last time anyone below say #8 seed won it all?

I guess my problem is that I do not believe money is everything.

doesn't matter because that is how decisions are made.
welcome to capitalism 101.

FWIW, the 8th seed is currently the betting favorite to win it all. The CFP is not an oracle and rankings are wildly off.
You can go back and look in this thread where in like week 8 or 9 I was aghast Tennesee and LSU were both ranked top 15. Complete insanity.
Neither team had more than 1 quality win and both had some really shaky displays of football.

Huh? Do you realize that this is the FIRST year they ever allowed a team below the 4th seed into the playoffs? How could an 8th seed ever win it all in previous years when they were NEVER allowed to compete?

You also ignored the questions in my previous post.

I asked you when anyone ranked that low won it all and of course you dodged the question.
NFL or NBA even tell me. Come on, tell me.

The question was of course mute since this is the first time so your claims are garbage.
The NFL was brought up and I included the NBA.
Tell me when someone seeded that low ever won it all ANYTIME ANYWHERE

This is easy.

2005. Pittsburgh won it as the 6th seed in the AFC conference which is the 11th or 12th ranked team overall in the playoffs.

2010. Green Bay won won it as the 6th seed in the NFC conference which is the 11th or 12th ranked team overall in the playoffs.

OK; but once again what seed where they ACTUALLY?

and both times I would argue that they were higher than 11 or 12. We can see it depends on how tough the conference is every year. Minnesota is a 5th seed in the NFC this year but what would they be overall? Probably fourth or fifth at worst.
Actually Detroit, KC and Maybe Buffalo are the only ones that should be ranked higher.
So once again you really do not prove anything.

NOW you put in CFP which they are all lumped together and tell me.
We have the 3-6 ranked teams left and seedings like the NFL and here are scewed by divisions and conferences

The Conference Champion Bye was dumb but it is what it is.
THAT was proven as all four of the Bye teams lost.

And in College Football the talent differential between first and eighty is much bigger than it is in the NFL.
