3 way trade: Eagles get Ernie Sims, Lions get Tony Scheffler, Denver gets picks...

If Sims can stay healthy, Eagles got a good player.

Why cant we get a good defensive player for a 5th round pick?

Good move for Eagles, IDU why they want a TE when they got B.Pettigrew,

I get the feeling McGangster will take a TE at #11.
The Broncos are a team that now have so many freaking needs. Just this off-season alone he's gotten rid of their starting JLB, TE, WR. They are in one of those situations where no matter what the pick, they can't be wrong.

Wow... nice trade for the Eagles. I wonder what picks were given up.

Because Pettigrew is more of a blocking TE and doesn't offer a whole lot in the passing game. Scheffler, when healthy is one of the better pass catching TE's in the league. The Lions tried to run a lot of two TE sets last year and it didn't work because Heller, Nordin, and Matthews are all better blocking TE's as well. Pettigrew also comes with some injury concerns and the Lions had grown sour on Sims over the past couple of years.

I read Denver gets a fifth from the Eagles and sends a seventh to Detroit.

I guess Pettigrew's knee is still a problem.

Wasn't Ernie Simms supposed to be a cornerstone of that Detroit defense?

Could he just not stay healthy?

No, he got into it with the new coaching staff before the season started last year and the relationship just never recovered. There has been talk of them getting rid of him for some time now. And honestly, Levy's great play last year made Sims expendable.

So... a 5th for Sims. Not a bad deal for them.

So either the Boys could obtain a player like Atogwe for a lot less, but on the flip side expect a lot less in trading one of their own players (rumored - Barber, Spears, Crayton, Carpenter). I don't forsee any players being traded, but just saying.

This will definitely be an interesting draft w/a lot of vets being traded with the uncapped season imo.

The one thing i love about this offseason is all the player trades. I hope the when they draw up a new CBA they find a way to allow teams to continue actual player for player/pick deals like this offseason without killing teams cap hit wise. I don't want to turn this comment into a long winded "what i would do" statement I'm just saying trades are awesome maybe it's the fantasy GM in me..:D

no comment on the actual deal until we know what they really gave up.. hopefully a 2

Alexander already stated: I read Denver gets a fifth from the Eagles and sends a seventh to Detroit

and we still sit and do NOTHING...we have to have something up our sleeves for draft day (i hope)

No, I'm with you. They need to work something into the new CBA to make player trades easier than they have been.

The ease of player trades this offseason really makes me wonder about the draft.

We might want to buckle our seatbelts and be ready for a lot of dealing.

Except Dallas. We're good.

Man, you know that Jerry is just waiting for the right time to strike. I read a pretty good article about how the biggest winners of the off-season are the Cowboys for not doing anything. After thinking about it for a while I can't say that I totally disagree.

Eagles | Sims trade update

Updating a previous item, the Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday, April 19, a three-way trade involving the Eagles, Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions. The Eagles traded a 2010 fifth-round draft pick to the Denver Broncos. The Denver Broncos have traded TE Tony Scheffler and a seventh-round draft pick to the Detroit Lions. The Lions traded LB Ernie Sims to the Eagles.

It seems rather lopsided. The Broncos gave up Scheffler AND a seventh round choice to Detroit. The Eagles got Sims and only gave up the fifth. Chances are you will probably see these teams deal with each other more this weekend to make up the difference.

Yhea, I was thinking the same thing. Doesn't seem as if Denver got much. I guess they really wanted to unload Scheffler and get something.

Hopefully it doesn't involve the Eagles robbing them both again.
