Lets hope these rookies perform. I'm more concerned with our 9 year vet under center when the lights get a little too bright and the moment a little too big.
With 2 rookies on the offensive line he has a built in excuse. Any struggles and those rookies will be roasted worse then Trey is now

I can’t remember the last time the Cowboys started the season with 4 rookie starters and those are some critical positions. It’s a testament to the scouting department working along with the coaches and of course ultimately the GM.

There will be some growing pains. I’m not predicting a Cowboys loss, but if they do it’s not the end of the world although many here will call for Jerry to tank after the first 3 and out. So be patient early in the season. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
If youre scared of the Browns then find another team to root for

Definitely going to be welcome to the NFL moment for these guys.

Especially for Guyton, who will have a full game going up against Garrett for a good amount of snaps-if not 100%. He looked good in camp/PS, but now it's every drive and into the 4th quarter.

What am I missing? Why do people keep saying Liufau is starting? I assumed he was #4LBer and #5 if you count Micah for some snaps.
I'm not saying he won't play, I'm asking if he was named a starter or if not why people are thinking he will be. Also if we are calling Carson a starter as a 3rd CB technically it's only going to be 2 LBers or you are at 12. Personally, I do like to call 12 guys starters on D when a team has a base 3 LBer set (I think on run downs we will play 3 LBers) because of how often the nickel CB plays

Because it does not align with his agenda.
Start a topic with your agenda. There is room for both.

It's not hard to find examples of good drafting and bad drafting.

How do you think we rank in the last 8-9 years? I'd have to refresh my memory, but sometimes it feels like we have some really good years and some real doozies other years.

It's early, but it's looking like last year set us back. Especially for a team that doesn't sign many real contributors in free agency.

Kneeland won't start but should see quite a few plays as well. Good post, Rocky!

He is listed on the depth chart as starting strong side linebacker. It doesn't necessarily mean anything on game day. Who starts will depend on Zimm's game plan and what personnel Cleveland trots out into the huddle.

Carson is our starting outside corner. If we open in Nickel, Lewis will start. So, like you said I think, Lewis would be that 12th starter.

Yeah I don't think Liufau will truly be starting either, but the official depth chart has 12 guys listed as "starters". Odds are most of those snaps will be with the Cowboys with 3 CBs on the field an Liufau on the sidelines, but we will see.

I am taking nothing away from these rookies. I hope they all excel. But don't you think the reason 4 rookies are starting has something to do with the way Dallas conducted their offseason? They let a bunch of players go and didn't really backfill them. Don't get me wrong. I am all in favor of throwing rookies into the pool and seeing if they swim, but we can't say this is good or bad until we see how they play. If they lose badly, will we hear the excuse, "well, they were starting 4 rookies"?

It's also a testament to ignoring free agency and relying completely on the draft to replenish your roster.

Grade the Cowboys on a curve here. They have no choice but to play rookies.

And why didn't the OP want to talk much about the 2023 class? That steaming pile of crap.
Fully agree. I don’t know for sure, and I’m not researching it lol, but I’d be willing to wager that they are among teams with the most UDFA snaps.

That does not at all mean they have done well in the UDFA department, although the results have probably been better overall than the second and third rounds lately.

We have 6 veteran free agent starters.

RB, WR, S, LB, LS,P.

Could re-draft. Figure the cost of our new draft selections over time to determine if the salary cap supports our new found genius.

Maybe it's a testament to poor roster management and the result of overpaid underperforming players at other positions
Or, maybe it's a testament to the new NFL landscape of needing to have quality players on rookie contracts because you literally can't afford to pay everyone on the team. These it's seems to be one of two ways, like us now or with a rookie QB and pay others.
