exactly. I like the move. been saying for a while we should be drafting a QB every few years, spending a 1 through 4th round pick depending. develop, give yourself an out or leverage in negotiations, some options.
so the guy was talented enough for a team to make multiple trades to move up to get him. paying a 4th is a low risk approach. they just need to see if he is salvageable.

4th round picks are important and I wish the kid had another year on his deal to develop before hitting FA. I don’t hate it, it’s a lottery ticket. I’m hoping MM can get creative and use Lance in some goal line or gadget situations so his athleticism can benefit the team this season.

Lol. If he came to Dallas, he would have been under Kellen Moore, who is terrible. OL nowhere near as good as Philly's. Would he also have made a playoff run in Dallas of beating Daniel Jones and Josh Johnson?

Hurts is a product of the Philly system and coaching just like McNabb was. Stafford was a product of McVey knowing how to get the best out of below average QBs (see Goff). We don't have close to that here.

Jimmy G? Another product of the SF system who was carried by his defense. He had 2 chances in both the NFC title game and the Super Bowl to win those games and he failed miserably. Go check his stats from that NFC title win their Super Bowl loss year. I think he threw 8 passes?

Y'all act like real life football is a video game and there are no circumstances to how these QBs project.

hurts has improved year over year and took the team to the Super Bowl . Throwing , yes throwing 300 something Yards.
Dak is still regressing after 8 years !
stafford was a pure elite passer and we saw it in Detroit and in the SB win .
garropoloo is a better passer than Dak .
a reminder , Dak threw 15 interceptions in 11 games last year !
folds in big games , 3 interceptions against 49ers with 12 measly points .

Just like Hurts, Wentz was the best QB in football improving year over year his first couple years then he fell apart.

One year doesn't make a QB great. Stafford came in to a team that was built to win that year but not much more after that. The Rams look like more of a train wreck than Dallas does right now.

Garropolo has not really done that much more than Dak as a starter despite having arguably way better defenses and way better offensive lines than Dallas has had. I would say Dallas' receivers have mostly been better between the two. But not by that much.

what message? that we paid a mid round pick, for a QB that was beat by a 7th rounder and a QB that was dumped by two teams before he got to niners and is no longer on the niners.

this is a reclamaition project. low cost. low risk. if it works out. great. we got a steal. if it doesn't we just only wasted a 4th round pick. chances of failure are much higher than success. we got two years to see if this kid can develop.

with that said, I like the move. its developing a potential good QB. Dak is 30 and team has to think ahead. its not about sending Dak a message. its the Bash Dak Over Dallas Cult, getting caught up in TMZ type mindset.
