I've said it before: The same posters who want Romo gone from the team are probably the first ones who would be clamoring to have him back once they realize how terrible his successor is in comparison.

I'm a Cowboys fan I hope the day Romo does hang them up that his successor whoever that may be is a great QB. It does not change my outlook on what it will take for this or any team to win a championship.

Well, he had the ideal situation.

Potential game winning drive with 3:00 to take the division and win a playoff game. He threw a pick on a dumpoff pass.

I'm a big Romo fan, was at his first start in Carolina, ... but this is the truth.

It's the truth, except for it being devoid of facts. I thought we missed the playoffs last year.

The real funny part is that so many "fans" really do think the Cowboys missed the playoffs because they lost that game. That's how linear their thinking is. This is also why we have so many Clove/ufcrules types who obsess over single games, even single plays in a 16 game season. They literally didn't watch the other games.

If ratings, rankings and statistics were what counted in football, Tony Romo would be like a Lvl 29 Magic-User.

Then that goes for every player and every stat they put up over the course of the season. No doubt the goal of the Cowboys is to win a SB to get that a lot of people need to get the job done.

The only thing worse than a player with good stats who hasn't won a championship is a player with bad stats who hasn't won a championship.

Listening to some people here, you'd almost think that good stats stand in the way of someone winning a championship.

Just want this team to stand up and play quality football. Offense, Defense and Special teams. They do that they have a great chance of winning big

Very interesting stats and conversation.

I really look forward to the day when Romo leads this team to a Superbowl victory and a handful of posters simply disappear and are never heard from again because of how much crow they'd have to eat.

That will be a beautiful day.

No argument from me here. But, if I were, oh let's say a Miami or Buffalo fan, I'd feel the same way about him as I do Marino or Kelly.

I support him and want DESPERATELY for him to bring us, as fans, what we ultimately want. But, if that doesn't happen, he can hold every stat in the book, and in my eye, he's just an also-ran, w/ really good stats.

Both outstanding QB any team would love to have them but again it is not them who wins SB it is the team itself. This is not the PGA or Tennis it is the ultimate team sport. As important as the QB is he relies so much on others for his own personal success. He controls only so much

I've been on the Giants message board. Trust me, the criticism does not go away. I've seen Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin get criticized very heavily and sharply by Giants fans - after they won the 2007 Super Bowl.

These rankings could be tainted because the Cowboys are forced to play from behind the majority of the time and all they do is pass the ball lol
There is some truth to that!

If nothing else it shows you that numbers can and are often misleading. I always thought stats should be weighted heavier at end of a game and later in year. Joey Galloway was perfect example of it as it seemed he got all of his yards in 1st half of game and then disappear in second half. Now I am not saying Romo disappears in 2nd half (late in year) but you will be hard pressed to find a GM, coach, fan base who wants the ball in Romo hands with 30 seconds, in December with playoff implications on the line.

Stats aren't misleading if you know how to read the right ones. And I don't think you'd be hard pressed, at all, to find a GM or coach who'd want the ball in Romo's hands with 30 seconds, in December, with the playoffs on the line. Fans, I'll give you. But then, you can probably guess what I think of the opinions of most average fans.

The real problem is Romo's inconsistency, he can play at an insanely high level for stretches at a time in which he looks like a HOF lock and then he'll have a game or several games where he has complete meltdowns and looks like Rex Grossman.
You've just called one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the history of professional football inconsistent.

Romo has had six consecutive qualifying seasons in the top ten in passer rating. That degree of consistency is extremely rare. There have only been five quarterbacks with more consecutive top ten qualifying seasons in passer rating. Ever.

13 Manning 1999-2010, 2012
11 Brady 2001-07, 09-12
8 Fouts 1978-85
8 Young 1991-98
7 Dawson 1962-68
6 Montana 1980-85 and 1987-90, 93-94
6 Baugh 1940-45
6 Griese 1971, 73-74, 76-78
6 Tarkenton 1972-77
6 Romo 2006-09, 2011-12

(adjusted for league size to filter out "top tens" when there were only 12 teams in the league, for example)

My own viewing experience, and the statistical measures of QB performance, don't really bear out the idea that Romo's an inconsistent player relative to the rest of the QBs in the league.
Depends on who you are comparing him to, great Qb's don't total 12 interceptions in 3 games within a season. By comparison Rodgers, Brady, Manning all had under 12 picks all year.
