Are you serious? How did you miss this?
He went off on Dez when he was in custody and it got out publicly. Then, he got chippy and started talking noise at practice. Jason Witten walked up to him while they were in stretching formation, got in his face and grabbed him with both hands, and told him to "shut the **** up!" multiple times.
There were stories that the team was considering releasing him right there because, apparently, he's been a bit of a headcase since he got here, just like he was in college.
That all got papered over very quickly. With Dez referring to Randle (I think) as his boy a day or two later.
The impression I always got from the team was that they thought Randle was a sort of lovable chucklehead who was doing enough stupid things to jeopardize his career rotational RB status. It never sounded as much like dislike for him as much as them believing he needed to grow up.
In any event, there's no way teams are going to start releasing players based off of allegations, anyway. And certainly not in an offseason where it's just going to seriously erode your bargaining position with your FA starter. You put a lid on this, decide what your'e going to do at RB, and then if anything you put Randle in the hot box in camp. If you like your RB talent, maybe Williams or a rookie gets his spot since you probably can't depend on him. If you need the extra RB, you keep him another year and then sort it out after that.
Mid/late round draft picks don't grow on trees. If you hit on a guy (in a relative sense), he's even more valuable than the pick it might take to replace him. We need those picks elsewhere, so we'll use them there and deal with the RB position as a whole sometime after the start of FA once we have a better sense for market value on Murray.
