A Changing of the Guard...

So people are saying that if that would have happened to Tony Romo to end the game ..... the Media would not have made a big deal about it?

Seriously?

I guess that's what some are saying. I disagree. Romo would never get a pass if he were in those shoes today.

Just one time, I want to see the wealth shared, and see how this particular QB handles the criticism.

How about some criticism for Carson Palmer also? He's started longer than Romo, was a 1st round pick, and gets almost no criticism whatsoever for his repeated lack of success. I almost choked on my coffee this morning when Adam Schein of Sirius Radio said that Palmer and Ochocinco are the most overrated players in the NFL. As far as the Bengals go, they haven't won a playoff game in 20 years. How many times do you hear about their playoff drought?

I find this argument to be of the double-edged sword variety.

As far as Romo vs. Rodgers, yes if that were Romo today he'd be crucified for it. Rodgers? Not so much. I think the latter if the right approach and find it unfortunate people like to 'pick on' Romo.

As for Cincinnati, without a doubt Palmer is one of the game's most overrated players. People were trying to shove his name into that third slot as the best QB behind Peyton and Brady, and he had one or two terrific seasons. He's not an elite quarterback now, and was never the third best IMO.

But it all comes down to expectations. I think far, far less is expected of Cincy and its players than it is of the Dallas Cowboys, and I like it that way. Personally, I'm glad we're not a team that is so insignificant historically that we get a free pass for playoff failures.

Is it fair to Romo? No. But I'm glad expectations are higher for him than they are Palmer and Brees.

We really should be proud of the fact that our team is relevant enough to get the pub they get, both good and bad. The Bengals aren't and never have been nationally relevant.

Yeah, but two wrongs don't make a right, zrink. I do agree though that there is a double standard about Romo though.

Was going to post the same thing. Rogers can't win the big one. Choked in a do or die game. It's time for the media to jump on this and harp on him until he wins a playoff game.

Come on..... everyone has been doing this to our QB for years, don't do it to Rogers who is a fantastic QB.
