This makeover makes zero sense.
It will, hold tight.
This makeover makes zero sense.
You're making the assumption that Williams is the one who gets replaced, and you're making the assumption that we're only keeping Williams because of his contract. Otherwise, you have a point.
Hurn might actually end up being a small upgrade to Terrence. We'll see what they do. I'm not sure why they're creating a glut at the WR position right now, and I don't really get where Hurn fits in in terms of his skill set except that he's a slightly better #2 than we have already. Problem is, both of those guys are moderately expensive and it costs us to move on from Terrence this year.
Dez is going to agree to a reduced salary. If Dez doesn't agree to a reduced salary, I think Hurns is a replacement, especially if they draft a receiver, too.
You think? Not sure he goes for it. And I think it's more than just salary for their desire to move on.Dez is going to agree to a reduced salary.
Surely he’s not dumb enough to take a chance making much less somewhere else?
So, how much less do you think he needs to take?
Ok. If 8 million is fair is 10 million too much if he’s at 14 million now?You think? Not sure he goes for it. And I think it's more than just salary for their desire to move on.
But, fair price for Dez is probably 8mill per year. A little more than what Nelson got.
10 mill is too much. 8 mill would be the max if some team really saw him as a fit. Maybe the jets.Ok. If 8 million is fair is 10 million too much if he’s at 14 million now?
What teams if Dez is cut are going to get in a bidding war for him at say 10 million? Especially since they’ve already used their Cap money in FA?
It just doesn’t make sense for us to cut him without receiving any compensation or another #1 reciever.
Dez can still be a center piece for us on offense in passing game. In the larger scheme haggling over a couple million is chump change. Not worth cutting loose our best reciever IMO.
I don’t doubt that.Another team has to want to give up something for him. You think teams are knocking on the door asking what the price is for Dez? Maybe. But I doubt we'd get more than a third for him.
There is much more to a team than just having talented players. If that makes sense.I don’t doubt that.
Letting Dez go drastically reduces our receiving core. Dak has enough issues.
I’m not saying I support over paying Dez and I’m certainly not qualified to state what he’s worth and why I asked.
The Salary we pay has no meaning to me this year unless we can attach that to other talents we’re bringing in this year to help us?
Wit restructered his contract too a couple years back as his talent was decreasing. There is much more to a team than just having talented players. If that makes sense.
You play sports? The best players have to be the best. They are the examples. They do the big things and also the first to do the little things. A slight overall decrease in on the field talent can actually be an overall gain to the team. It's that chemistry thing.
I'm not a Dez fan. And I certainly am not saying he is some sort of team cancer, at least amongst the players. But he's paid like the best yet he isn't. He may be on this team, but that still doesn't make him one of those guys you lean on.
And that goes for Wit. Now Jason is a guy you lean on. He has everything you want in a player. Or did. Age has simply caught him. But if I had to keep either Dez or Wit. I'm leaning on Wit.
Dak needs WR's to be where the are supposed to be. He needs WR's to consistently run the route the way its supposed to be run. He needs WR's to hang on to the ball.Wit restructered his contract too a couple years back as his talent was decreasing.
Again. I’m not arguing over what Dez is worth. I’m not qualified to argue that. I do know that most of these contracts are rewards for what they’ve done. Dez was paid for the level he was at.
My point again is assuming we save the money what effect is losing Dez going to have on our passing attack, offense overall and Daks development?
And yes, I played sports. And been around athletes all my life.
The highest paid players don’t have to be the best throughout their contract . They’re rewarded for their value at the time they extended their contract.
So, I’m assuming if Dez takes less everyone is going to be on board ? Lol
And Dak might be the X-factor in all of this for Dez if he doesn’t see a good future with him as his QB.Dak needs WR's to be where the are supposed to be. He needs WR's to consistently run the route the way its supposed to be run. He needs WR's to hang on to the ball.
This offense needs WR's who can run more complex route combinations. They need to have a WR who can take the top off coverages.
Hurns and Thompson do that. Dez does not.
Dez makes plays after the catch. But all that helps is a qbs stats. He does not present an easy target by getting separation via speed or route.
Dak will, IMO, be better of with Hurns who is a high IQ player. And Thompson because of his speed.
If we replace or greatly reduce Wittens role in passing situations, you will see a much more dynamic offense now.
All this obviously hinges on Dak individually improving.
I understand but the NFL over pays all the time then adjust later. The NFL is a business. If you don't get top play for top pay, da playa can't stay.
Unless you're a future HOFer. And even they need to go at some point.
Adios then I say.And Dak might be the X-factor in all of this for Dez if he doesn’t see a good future with him as his QB.
