A DT like Malcolm Brown would do wonders

Also, a true 1T can help us with getting more takeaways. He'd be good at punching the ball out on run plays. Also, by having a true 1T, he'd be able to force more interceptions because he would absorb a lot of blocks freeing up space for Quinn and Tank. This will either draw more sacks or, with the QB under immense pressure, he's bound to throw an interception or two for us to get.
Top NT's also push the pocket, which keeps the QB from simply stepping up to avoid the edge rush.

This as well. That keeping him sitting in the pocket makes sacking him like shooting fish in a barrel. If he can't escape up the middle and can't escape around the edges, then he has to get rid of the ball more quickly. This leads to mistakes that our DBs should be able to feast on.

Its "every game" but we had the 6th best rushing defense last year. How does that work?

Barkley gets 100 yards in almost every game where he has more than 15 carries. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry this year and had seven 100 yard games last year playing behind a garbage OL.
I didn't say every game, re-read my post.

..we could always buy a refrigerator and place it the DT spot. That for sure the RB will have to run around it. ..;)..

Throw in Gerald McCoy this past offseason. We could have had him also. This team has not a lick of clue why their run defense is being gashed. A good coach would have known and would have made sure that what happened during the Rams game won't happen again.

More like UT is at the top of our draft picks. We only pick one position on the DLine.

Borderline starter quality. Better in a rotation.

DT for the draft. We won't be picking another base defense 1T. Don't need two guys for a 50% position. Could be a 1T/3T tweener to pair with Hill against more pass happy offenses.

But I can see our first two picks going dline. Easily. Certainly defense. Not LB. They love Woods at FS. I'm interested to see if they still draft CB high with Richard here. I wouldn't think so. So it's dline.

The only position to even think about drafting on offense in the 1st is TE. Everyone else is signed or soon to be signed.

we "play the run on the way to the quarterback" - it's been that way since Rod got here....

We also clap a lot.

Isn't watching Jason Garrett led teams fun??

I'm ready to put Jason Garrett down there with Wade Phillips in my signature. Please fire that man.

….and consequently we don't stop the QB or the run either one. See the GB game last Sunday.
And you're right about it being "since Rod got here". Marinelli doesn't go for that run stuffing DT type. And it shows.

I don't know. I am not sure the gap shooting DL works all the time. Looked like they whiffed a lot. & then the DL stunts were so slow that Rogers just burned them. They need help on the DL. That is certain.

They got manhandled don’t blame it on the scheme.

LOL .. oh so not only do you want me to show you “ narrative “ stats but you’ve already made up your mind that even if I do, you’re going to proclaim it as dumb because you’re determined not to
accept it - and that Rams playoff game was a dumb, misleading stat, too.. in fact there were already leaks and signs that our vaunted 6th best run defense in 2018 – and it all ended up
leading up to it’s dam-breaking conclusion.

1) at Carolina 147 yards (per cam newton RPO highlights) …. ON THE ROAD

2) at Seattle 113 yards ( per c. carson 102 yds)…. ON THE ROAD

3) at Washington 130 yds ( per A. Peterson’s 99 yds) ON THE ROAD

4) at Indy 178 ( per C. Mack’s 139 yds) …… ON THE ROAD

5) at NYG 143 (per barkley’s 107 yds) ….. ON THE ROAD

6) playoffs/ at LARams 273 yds ( per Gurley 115 , CJ Anderson 123yds ) … ON THE ROAD

but I'd be willing to bet someone,. somewhere, is going to be determined that it's dumb to use the metric’s of Packers Aaron Jones 107 yards and 4 rushing TDs as well ? .

Why ? what has 31 year old battered and beaten down McCoy done with his new team in Carolina ?
McCoy is still trying to battle thru injuries and still trying to get healthy enough to even get into games in any kind of capacity
– he doesn’t have a single sack this year and he didn’t even have a single tackle vs Jax as Leonard Fournette as he recorded a 108 yrd rushing day .

We cannot be so desperate for guys on the street just because of past names of the back of their jerseys. Know and understand what we are getting.

Now this I agree w/ completely.

We got gashed in record numbers in our playoff game, and our answer was to draft yet another slasher type(Hill) w/ major questions as to his ability to anchor. It simply does not make sense.

When your DL is filled w/ slasher types, you often either stop the guy for a loss or he gets to the 2nd level for big gains. I'm not an XO type by any means, but this is what I've observed consistently over the last few years. That's why this D is so confusing and why we're generally ranked higher than we actually play.

And the problem then is that when we play good D teams, they generally are able to gash us up the middle by trapping or pushing aside our undermanned DT's.

The slashers at DT work at times, but not consistently.

Playing the run on the way to the QB would be fine if they made any headway getting to the QB! But the DTs do not get any consistent push in the middle. The get pushed out of the way.

Looked to me like GB knew our rush schemes and bunched up to prevent getting to the QB. That said Rodgers has to be one of the best at lateral movement to create space and time...

He consistently is able to do that, especially against us...

2015 Panther had the most turnover due to their DTs stopping the run and collapsing the pocket in middle. Took them to the SB with a mediocre offense.

Exactly, and I'd dare say that Dak is a better QB than Cam. He's developing and playing well. He's won the division 2 of his first 3 seasons and had the unfortunate situation of losing Zeke for 6 games in 2017. Think what a DT like Brown would do for Dak.
