I don't care what the Lions record is against the Cowboys. That franchise sucks. They've had multiple top 5 picks (year after year) and they still suck. Lions fans can't make fun of anybody. The fact that we're disappointed with the Cowboys recent play against them doesn't make the Lions some juggernaut.

No it doesn't make them something special, but those wins gives the Lions the right to talk snack to the Cowboys.

Yeah, that dude must be crazy.... not one of those comments are even remotely accurate.

Didn't say some weren't but the same bspn rehashed crap gets annoying. Its a common crutch with cowboy haters to go to that.

When everybody has the right to call your team a joke, it just seems silly to talk smack to anyone. But I know that's how fans are.

It's who we are right now. we can't talk smack without looking foolish unless you're arguing with a Jaguars or Browns fan.

You think this is bad? I was at the gym the other day and received outright pity when another guy noticed I was wearing a Cowboys cap. "They used to be America's Team," he said, and he looked sorry saying it. I live in NY, so I'm assuming he was a Jets or Giants fan. I think I prefer scorn (even if it's ill informed) to pity.

For some snotty-nosed kid to be calling Romo a 'crybaby' is laughable. Only a clueless young simpleton would be willing to make such a remark about a QB who has performed bravely in numerous games despite painful injuries. That poor kid is, indeed, living proof of the old chiche that says "ignorance is bliss." Leave it to a suffering Lions' fan to come up with that.

I was wearing a Cowboys Hall of Famers shirt at the grocery store when one of the stock boys started giving me flak. A Lions fan, no less.

I was incredulous, but polite. (Like I need to debate a stock boy about the relative merits of the Cowboys and Lions franchises.)

"Actually," he said, "I always liked the Cowboys, until they got Tony Romo. That guy is the biggest crybaby ever."

Yep.

He'll probably be working for ESPN soon.

I wondered where ufcrules1 worked...

I would ask an uppity Lions fan when was the last time his team was king of the jungle. The king of the jungle part might not register though...

When ever I meet someone and they want to talk sports, I ask them their opinion on Romo. If they tell me he sucks or he's a choke artist, I know it would be a complete waste of time to continue talking to them.

It would truly suck to be a fan of the Detroit lions. Their glory days predate the merger

The answer to this is winning. You don't talk smack unless you can back it up. I bet you are one of those guys that screams that you are the best when your team just got blown out. If you want to speak of me as a poster , let's go to PMs and I can tell you of the threads from several boards that mock you as a poster and your knowledge. I don't think you really want to go there. Since you started your snarky attack, I can finish it. I have refrained from attacking you personally due to board rules. Also, I can accept different opinions that disagree with my own. You struggle with that concept.mi try to avoid responding with you because you you fall back on your insults because the substance is not there.

I actually disagree. If you're a competitive person then you're going to talk smack no matter how many times someone beats you at something.

I feel like a lot of fans are like that with their fandom. It's the competitive nature in them. At least that's how I've always felt about it.

I actually don't really give much respect, or credit, to any fans that won't vehmently defend their team or talk smack back even though they're bad.

I have co-workers who are a Commander fan, a Dolphin fan, and a Bears fan. They'll talk smack all the time and I give it right back. If they didn't I'd be disappointed as hell in them and quite honestly I wouldn't talk football with them ever.

To me fans are proud to be a fan of their team no matter how bad they are. It's one of the few things I really respect about Browns, Steelers, or freaking Eagles fans. They're absolutely rabid with their fandom about their teams. I love that to be quite honest.

I agree. However, Cowboys fans are considered stupid for loving the Cowboys -- by other Cowboys fans at that. Apparently rooting for an unsuccessful franchise is commendable, unless that franchise is the Cowboys.

I agree that you expect fans of opposing teams to defend their team to you. As a Cowboys fan, I'll talk smack to fans of other teams, just like the stock boy.

But when it comes to other Cowboys fans, I prefer talking about the actual issues. What's fun about having an echo chamber where everyone is all in accord?

It's like I can talk about my sister, but you better not talk about her or we're gonna have a problem.

He wasn't referring to popularity, I think that remains fairly unquestioned. He was talking about winning...said he was like 2 when they last won a Super Bowl. (I, unfortunately for my present self, was already a working adult. ;)

Pride is an inner motivation which no fan should feel guilty or ashamed of in my opinion. Fans may bicker among themselves. They may even berate each other but there is not anything wrong with feeling proud of the franchise you follow. Franchises are more than players, coaches, and owners. They are traditions. They are legacies. They continue moving through time and fans have an opportunity to hop abroad and enjoy the ride while they live and breath. I believe a fan should embrace the honor, not belittle or diminish it. It's literally a once in a lifetime experience. Fans should enjoy it while it lasts.

Of course, some fans choose to embark and disembark several times along the way. :)

Cowboy fans are considered stupid for talking trash about other teams, when those other teams are better than the Cowboys. It looks foolish to talk trash when you are talking to a fan that supports a winning team that the Cowboys can't beat. There is nothing to support the Cowboy fan's position the last few years. Talk smack to a Seagawks fan and you really look stupid.
