I agree that you expect fans of opposing teams to defend their team to you. As a Cowboys fan, I'll talk smack to fans of other teams, just like the stock boy.

But when it comes to other Cowboys fans, I prefer talking about the actual issues. What's fun about having an echo chamber where everyone is all in accord?

It's like I can talk about my sister, but you better not talk about her or we're gonna have a problem.

Oh yeah. Totally. I get the idea that with other fans of your team you'd want to talk more serious issues other than talking smack. Heck I'd rather do that with other fans of other teams, in the long run, but if I make fun of their team and they just roll over and take it then you can believe I'm not talking any serious football with them.

I was wearing a Cowboys Hall of Famers shirt at the grocery store when one of the stock boys started giving me flak. A Lions fan, no less.

I was incredulous, but polite. (Like I need to debate a stock boy about the relative merits of the Cowboys and Lions franchises.)

"Actually," he said, "I always liked the Cowboys, until they got Tony Romo. That guy is the biggest crybaby ever."

Yep.

He'll probably be working for ESPN soon.

I hate this forum removed the laugh emoticons. :)

You should have said ... "But, you're a LIONS Fan!" and then fell out on the floor in hysterical laughter and kept muttering "A LIONS fan" after every few seconds of laughter.

@dogunwo @Blackspider214 I think Bills fans would be a top candidate too. Every year, and I literally mean EVERY year they say it is "their year."

Hmmmm can't say I have ever met a Bills fan in person. I'm guessing there aren't many around outside of upstate NY. Even during the Super Bowl run I never saw any around here.

Saints fans are also up there in annoyance. I have some of them. They all came out the woodwork around 2009 or so.

Saints fans

Yeah they are pretty bad, too. But at least they have had recent success. Texans win a few playoff games against Andy Dalton and act like they are royalty. Seeing them fall flat on their face to a 2-14 record after so many were booking their rooms for the Super Bowl was hilarious.

If only there was some sort of feature that would allow anyone to avoid seeing the posts of any particular member of their choosing.

He also started the "If Barry Sanders hadn't quit, Smith wouldn't have those records today" argument, too.

"You may be right," I said, "but Barry *did* quit. He's a quitter."

Dude had nothing to say.

Well he was right about Barry. Implying that Barry was better, because he was.
Barry's problem is that he was really a diamond but surrounding by garbage.

What does that say for Dallas? They have beat the Cowboys like a red headed stepchild in the last few years. Embarrassing beat downs at that. megatron wore out a pair of cleats running up and down the field.

And after that game Megatron retired for the year.

Romo would be the best QB in the history of the Lions franchise. Again I have said this before, I have NEVER, not even close, have I seen an athlete where "casual fan" perception as well as supposed experts are so amazingly inaccurate as I have seen with Romo. All he is, is one of the best regular season QB's we have seen play the game. He has had 4 opportunities to play playoff games. He played good in 2 of them and mediocre in 2 more, and only won 1. He has carried teams without a coach and a horrific defense that should be 4-12 to 8-8 records in 3 straight seasons. His TD/int ratio is tremendous, his QB rating is tremendous, his completion % is tremendous, he plays hurt, he wins games in the 4qtr, if he wins 50 in a row and blows one 4th qtr game just as every other QB does, all you hear is "Here we go again with Romo!" I wish he didn't have the last 3 years of his prime wasted. If you asked the casual fan such as that toolbag Lion fan if room has more TDs than INTs he would say no way, Romo throws a million ints! Meanwhile he throws less than almost all of the qbs in the league aside from a hand full, 31/10 last year.

They really struggle to get local support even here in Rochester, NY. I probably only have 3 friends who are Bills fans. Most fans are older aged but they have to let everyone know this is their year. Sureeeee it is...

Beatdowns? Both games were close affairs. Unless you want to admit we beatdown 8 teams last year.

I have a brother-in-law, a Seahawk fan, who also has a negative perception of Romo. I always like Romo precisely because he strikes me as a down to earth, hardworking guy. He seems to have an image problem, however, when it comes to non-Cowboy's fans.

It's because a lot of non Cowboy fans don't watch Romo play, they hear the non sense the media spews and run with it. Most Cowboy fans who actually keep up with the team and watch all the games, think that Romo is a helluva QB. He may not be elite (Brady, Rodgers, Manning, Brees), but he's definitely one of the top notch QBs in the league.
