A show of hands please, will you be as enthused in '09 with the cards dealt by Jerra?

Why do assume he's blind?

...because he disagrees with you? Maybe he's just not as big of a quitter.
If he'd bother to look it up, I think he'd find where BEFORE the game yesterday I expected us to lose.

He's just pissed because I deigned to suggest he has an anti-Jerry Jones agenda and he feels it has a negative connotation. How dare I? Even if I don't see agendas as necessarily bad. Evil me.

Hos, you are great poster and always has great info on history. But what I have seen, you are not Half full guy, but seem to Glass Full even when the Glass is almost empty. No offense meant by that.

And personally, I cannot help but root for cowboys. SEems like its ingrained in my DNA now. I will probably whine and complain all year and some, but I guess I will be half full glass guy at the end, hoping, I am wrong. But I fully expect a 8-8 at best to 5 or 6 win team next year.
I am a half full guy on 2009. I was a glass half empty guy yesterday and can prove it. In fact as soon as we were past Thanksgiving I went to glass half empty mode. I think I am a realist rather than a reactionary. I don't get too up or too down by wins or losses.

Of the options you gave I chose #2

I will always support the Cowboys but I won't get as excited next year unless changes are made.

I see no reason not to be. I love the team. Love a bunch of these players and some of the coaches. I like the talent level. 50th Anniversary year. New Stadium. 12 Draft picks in April.

Why the hell shouldn't I be excited? I can't think of one single, solitary reason not to be.

As for me, I despise those with agendas!

I want them to win just like anybody, will always be a fan of this team.

However my expectations for next yr if no changes are made are going to be extremely low. I just cant see what would be different to get us better results. I think our coaching staff has absolutely proven they are second rate and cant prepare or motivate a team. Maybe the team is healthier next yr, but so many players dont seem to give a crap about winning it probably wont help. We already have a pretty stacked roster, and we couldnt even make the playoffs so I dont see wht adding more talent will do. I really wont be all that surprised if we finish 6-10.

There's no blindness at all, but you believe whatever you want.

I know in your 'position' on here you want to put on a good face and be optimistic. If you really believe it, then more power to you.

I can hardly wait to see what he do with our second round pick myself. I'm also sure the new stadium will be state of the art and the nicest ever built. And Wade will be Wade and Jerry will be Jerry and Garrett will be Garrett and Romo will be Romo. But hey, even the Detroit Lions came dream about next season now.

Here's to 2009 :toast:

Pissed? Not at all, but you may believe what you will.

As for agenda's, I have a pro-Cowboys agenda. That's why I will always be for what's best for the team and against what hinders our success.

A lot of my disappointment and sour taste has to do with some guilt.
Guilt that I spent so many Sundays closed off from my family, especially my grandson. Rooting for millionaires whose half-hearted play clouded many sundays (7 Sundays to be exact).
Perhaps there is a better balance out there. Root for my beloved Cowboys but don't take it so personally and don't spend so much time away from people who will NEVER desert you.

This Zone, despite its disfunctional inter-zonal sparring and conflicts, is made up of good men and women and recent parolees.

And like one of my Zone cellmates said in this thread, rooting for the 'Boys is in our DNA.

But still, not only did we not make it into the playoffs, we were disgraced by the Egirls. It wasn't a loss, it was a full-blown retreat presided over by an indifferent Wade.

So next year, enthusiasm tempered by a little bit of balance in one's life.

Or is it just the Lone Star chased down by Pepto-Bismol?

As long as we have this coaching staff and TO running this show...then what's the use? Why would this team change?

I love football....but when it's not played right because an owner is too stubborn to realize when he has failed then what's the point really?

We are a joke and we will be again in 2009!

Great post by a true enthusiast. I'm starting to label real fans enthusiasts, and the others just "fans."

I'll post an explanation in another thread.

I will still watch the games, its like craning your neck to see the gore when you drive by a car crash. I have zero expectations as long as Fatso and Ginger are still around.

I am pumped about 2009, but only because my expectations have been lowered dramatically. If they get in as a Wild Card, I would be thrilled.

Welcome to the new Dallas Cowboys, where the getting to the playoffs means a successful season.

I will still root for the Cowboys and spend money on them. I don't think I can get to the point where I can't, but my expectations will be low.

I will be exactly the same as I am now.

But now my attitude is going to be what it was in the mid 90s.

This is a franchise being run by a man who is completely incapable of doing what needs to be done to fix the problems that he created.

So, for me I wont have the belief that we will do anything substantial.

But I will be right there doing everything I can to cheer on the team in the stadium and hope they win.

Its just that just like the mid 90s, my heart will catch a beating from my brain, which is the opposite of this season.

If they decided to do things the right way I would be elated, but I know that isnt going to happen. I grew up a yankees fan, I know exactly how a good organization chases its tail for years and that is what we are doing again.

I think this team is screwed for the next 3 years atleast. IMO this will be the 2nd Dave Campo TYPE era. I hope i'm wrong, time will tell.

The main thing that should keep us from dropping to that level is we aren't in the horrible cap shape now as we were then. And we are much younger and don't have nearly as many aging overpaid veterans.

I see us being a 7-9 to 10-6 team the next couple of years that will either come up short at the end of the year or just squeak into the playoffs as a wildcard team. If the stars align we could possibly advance to the divisional round. Otherwise we'll likely be a one and done team or just barely miss the playoffs.

Wade's teams usually don't outright suck. He's usually good enough to have his teams in playoff contention most years. He just either comes up short or loses in the first round if he does get there. I don't see any reason that will suddenly change now.

Well, in my mind, the glass is not half full or half empty. It's just too damn big.

Whether you're right or I'm right it really doesn't matter neither is good enough for me nor you I know that much.

I really don't know how this organization ever gets turned around as long as Jerry is here. Jerry told us fans to our face he had changed when he hired Parcells but it was a lie, all he did was veil alittle better what he always has done. So IF Jerry ever does hire another legit coach and give him full control I can't say i'll believe it and not think it's some scheme. I'm just about to the hopeless point!

Injuries hurt this team badly. But I strongly believe we are getting outcoached and at times badly.

I've never wished before for a coaching change. Ever. Do we need another OC? OL coach? ST coach?
