yeah whoever it is probably just reads from time to time...they wouldn't post I would imagine. If they did the board would explode.

and whoever it is, if you want to come over some time, hang out, let me know :)
He has never posted.

I do know of one other player who has a family member here who reports to him about stuff. His Dad doesn't post either. I've advised them not to. Fans get too personal.

Thats pretty cool that players actually read this board. I'm not surprised either but at least they can see what the fans think of them week in week out.

it isnt cool if it is a player that some people on here do nothing but bash without any points to back up their rant...god i hope it isnt the likes of RW or miles or TNew

Nice post. The only part I disagree with is the special teams. Outside of McBriar and the blocked FG, I thought they were very bad.

Crayton had two muffs, though one of them was right on the sidelines and may have been intentional. He also fair caught an easily returnable ball when the Cowboys were struggling for field position. TNew elected not to field a punt that bounced near the twenty and was downed on the 3. Ogletree was not good on kick returns and fumbled one, fortunately near the sidelines. Folk missed a 40-yarder. Beuhler wasn't terrible, but his kick to start OT was not good.

All-in-all, a pretty poor effort by the specials today.

I think if the offense could have scored TDs instead of FGs, build a lead, I think that makes a difference in how the defense plays later in games.

Hos, good post, my friend. A few thoughts to contribute:

1) Like you, I don't like apologizing for wins or agonizing over missed opportunities. Look, wins are precious for us fans. Who knows how many we'll have? I'm not about to be miserable after we won a darn game in dramatic fashion.

2) Yeah, yeah. We played ugly. We have done so for all but about six quarters this season (the last two against Tampa; the last two against Carolina and the first one against Denver). But my philosophy on regular season NFL football is this: Style points early aren't significant. What matters is that you position yourself with a quality enough record going into the latter part of the season that you're still relevant; that you remain relatively injury free (a la not losing a guy like Romo today); and that you gradually make progress, but especially so late.

I realize in today's instant-gratification, message-board society that we just absolutely MUST look perfect at all times or else hell must be paid. Sorry, folks. No one will remember a month from now the score of today's game (nor will they remember the score of the slim Giants loss).

3) Which brings me to my final point. This team has some undoubtedly critical flaws that MUST be fixed. But what I'm seeing is that our flaws are fixable -- assuming, of course, Wade and company can direct us in the right direction, which remains the biggest question.

We're a capable but sloppy team. Bottom line. We have the ammo to move down the field and to stop teams, but we hurt ourselves with silly penalties, dropped passes, missed field goals, missed tackles.

The good news? A fumbled snap, a dropped punt, a hold, a missed field goal, a dropped TD -- none of it -- are really caused by a lack of ability. Stuff like that can be overcome. It's like an unforced error in tennis. We're not getting abused by anyone. It's something that can be corrected if we're mentally sharp enough to do so.

But we don't have a critical flaw -- like no running game, no QB, no pass defense -- that will inherently haunt us from competing late in the season (of course, Wade could be considered an inherent flaw :) ).

So all in all, yes, a sloppy game. But I'm cautiously optimistic that the pieces are in place that, should the team be focused going down the stretch run, we can put together a sequence of games that nicely positions us for the playoffs.

Better replay than my original post. Thanks.

First of all, very nice post.

You are right, it can be corrected. And it should be corrected.

But we've been struggling with penalties for at least a couple seasons now.

And for whatever reason, I still think this team has trouble with "big" games - for the most part.

I wonder if Wade benching a player or two - even if it's for just a couple of series - would make a difference? It's that lack of discipline/execution that separates us from top tier teams, IMO.

Anyway, I don't have an answer. But Wade needs to come up with an answer pretty quickly.

I agree with BP, Hos. A level headed post with something to ponder on both sides of the homer/doomer sides of the scale.

The bolded part is the most concerning. This team has a tendency to beat itself more often than not. We almost did it again yesterday. I would have tons more hope for the reversal of this trend if the trend itself wasn't as long standing as it has been. From Parcells to 2 years+ of Phillips this team plays some of the dumbest football in the entire league, at times. Seemingly in a constant battle to overcome mistakes that are of the simplest of football fundamentals (i.e. procedural penalties, fumbles, personal fouls). If this team could find a way to get out of it's own way, I don't think there's a team out there that we couldn't beat to a pulp. Unfortunately, we seem to end up being the the opposing teams best weapon, at times. The fact that it's been such a constant recurring theme is the most frustrating of all.

I agree with you Hos! I will take a win everytime no matter how ugly it was!
I know they have alot to work on. I clearly think they have the talent to work with. If they could get away from those penalties it would improve their game 75 percent!

I thought Romo looked good. I can't say enough about Choice either! I don't believe he is better than a healthy Barber and Barber does a great job blocking! I just think all three of our running backs have their own special talent and they are great. Choice sort of reminds me of E. Smith in the finding of holes!

I think Austin will become an outstanding WR! He is strong and the ability to stay on his feet and break tackles was outstanding in the game! I hope he is able to play more alongside RW in future games. My favorite part of the game was when he broke the tackle and was headed for the endzone for the game winning TD, the camera was on him...and once he knew he was going to make
it he had the biggest smile on his face and the whole team was headed for him and piled on him afterwards!!!! I love too see them "together" as a team like that.

I hope the go into the bye week and get healthy and continue to work on the problems they have and emerge stronger and better and healthy.
I look forward to the next game!
