Talk about hits ... Olshansky probably had the biggest hit on Ryan today.

I think Newman has lost a step, but he doesn't realize it yet or can't admit it. He is often late getting there in coverage, and he is no longer a weapon on punt returns. He seems to make bad decisions on PRs but still thinks he has the speed to make up for them.

One other thing about Newman ... Before today and the block he made for Crayton, I never realized he was on the coverage unit. Is that normal for him, or is it a duty that was forced on him by Rossum's presence on the roster?

Is blocking the only thing Hines Ward does?
So you couldn't answer the question after you said you could.

I can't believe I missed the game. I had to take a detour when I-40 was closed due to fallen rocks. I ended up losing 4 hours and got home just as the game was going off. Saw some great scenery in Tennessee and North Carolina though. But by judging from what I've read on the boards and watching the highlights at NFL.com, it looks like Dallas had a very dominant game. Sorry I missed it, but glad we got the win.

He couldn't answer. Would you care to, or do you prefer to simply be Curly?

I could see the Hines Ware comparisons if we truly were a run-oriented offense, that relies on the passing game to keep Ds honest

yeah, I know Pittsburgh hasn't been as run-oriented as they were in the past, but when they were, Hines was there springboarding it for years

not a few games

I know you want to latch onto to something positive about Roy, and ride it with all your might, but c'mon

I knew that was the case a little earlier. Which is why I asked.

Wondering if he's just looking at stat lines and talking **** off that, or if he actually formed his opinion based on watching the game. My guess is he just saw the stat line.

I didn't make a comparison, I asked a question which like your fellow slap you couldn't answer.

Par.

His blocking plays a role in their overall success but I hope you're not trying to make the point that downfield blocking is more important than putting up points. As a scoring threat, you cause defenses to take notice and account for where you are on the field. That dynamic in and of itself helps the running game immensely. A great percentage of WRs at the NFL level can block. A much smaller percentage of WRs at the NFL level change games by lighting up the scoreboard. For the amount that we gave up for the garbage man, I would expect him to be doing much more than just blocking. As stated, thank goodness for Miles or else we wouldn't have much to augment our running game and keep defenses honest. You keep recording every downfield block RW11 makes though. Just don't expect me to buy that bootleg game film.

I think I did answer it

showing you how irrelevant the question was

bringing up one person to make a point about another is a comparison, it's called comparative analysis

No worries. Hos will be piecing together the film of Roy's blocks from today and selling the tape later this week. Get it while it's hot.

6 for 6 so far. So yes.

Do you want my opinion on Roy so you can steal it?

I never said I record his downfield blocks. That was you and the other 2 coming to a stupid conclusion. I said he has been a key to the run game because of that ability.

I dare you to tell me that isn't the case. You guys can blow the rest of it all out of proportion and play your little slap and tickle games, but you have an NFL player you can ask about the impact of WRs blocking for a running game. The question is, are you honest enough to?

Oh, that question was probably unfair. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
