We can blame Romo for a lot of things yesterday, but I don't think that play was one of them. If Bailey had not illegally chucked Williams way downfield to avoid getting burned, Williams would have been farther downfield, and the pass wouldn't have been high.

Put any wide receiver out running a pattern and allow a defensive back to knock him off his route just before the quarterback throws the ball, and the passes are going to look mighty inaccurate.

OK, so how was Romo supposed to know that Williams would be knocked off his route and not end up where he was supposed to be?

Please ... do tell us.

I don't know what was worse, my turtle slow Internet connection for 3 quarters, the Internet crashing with 12 minutes left in the game, the loss, or the weekly fan meltdown. Well, actually I was fortunate to be without Internet for several hours so the last one I didn't have to deal with.

14-2, 2-14, or any record in between those two, I have decided to refuse to get all strung out and upset about this team, because there is nothing I can do about it. I don't believe in the billboard ideas and never will. I also don't believe chirping about it does myself any good or anyone else either. Some will say that means I am just being optimistic. That would entail missing the fact that I wrote 2-14 in the first line of the paragraph. I'm used to that kind of thinking any more.

That said, I'll begin the most painful critique of the season.

Tony, Tony, Tony. You nearly got Roy Williams killed. Man that was a great hit. If it had not been on one of our players I would have really loved it. As it is I only begrudgingly love it. Give credit to Denver, their Defense is better than I expected. After a lousy 1st quarter they turned it on for the next 3 quarters. I tip my hat to them on a great game. I owe someone 5 bucks this morning when I get to the job site. That's gonna suck.

How in the world after Brooking makes a stop like that on 4th down can the Offense be on cruise control and play flat? I know the QB was rushed and throwing high, but how does the O-line forget to block well? I don't understand that. I big play is supposed to fire a team up, not calm them down. There was no fire yesterday. Maybe it was the altitude, maybe it's the fact our 2 losses are to undefeated teams who are simply better. I hate to admit that last line because I think this team has promise.

Unfulfilled promise is almost a proverb. We're still averaging 6.0 yards per carry and still the #3 ranked rushing Offense, but yesterday was a letdown by the O-line and the running attack with one exception. Barber's TD was all heart and effort. Where was that the entire game?

It took too long to get Witten involved and I think this team is better when Defenses have to account for him early. Dawkins had a blanket on him all day. Man oh man, did we ever go after Champ Bailey. The problem is we never got it over on him. He made a great INT on the play where Austin and Tony weren't on the same page. We attacked him. I think I heard them say 16 times. Unreal.

The best play I saw from Dallas other than Barber's TD was Jenkins TD saving bat down of a pass to Marshall. Then Marshall comes back at the end of the game and makes up for it big time. I thought Newman was going to get that pass. Not sure if he time it wrong or lost footing or what, but Marshall made one hell of a play.

I guess what it boils down to is I give more credit to Denver than I felt I would ever have to. I won't lie, I had them as a 4-12 to 6-10 team after their off season meltdown. It's only right and fair that I give them the credit they do deserve. They flat out outplayed us. There is nothing else that can be said about it. It was nothing like the Giants game where they needed 4 turnovers to win by a mere 2 points after a dogfight. Not this time. Denver simply never gave up and we never got going because they didn't give up. No excuses necessary.

Crow doesn't taste like chicken.

Hos, I'm purposely trying to hold my tongue on a lot of this crap. Aside from stressing my feelings last night, I feel it does the board (and my status on the board) good by just keeping my mouth shut.... for the most part...

I will say this. All roads are beginning to point to one thing. As we move forward, it's becoming more and more apparent that there is a huge lack of preparation issue. I won't harp on who I wanted and didn't want for HC anymore. I think I have made your ears bleed enough. I'll harp on the here and now. This team does not appear to be getting the necessary instruction during the week that allows them to play at the highest level possible on game day. These athletes cannot be expected to just turn it on. They must be prepared so they're reacting and not thinking when that play goes down. I'm seeing way too many miscues to believe anything to the contrary.

Wade's practices have got to leave something to be desired. You know they say... a team will play the game exactly the way they stepped through it in practice. That is so true. Perfect structured practice will equate to a well engineered game with minimal mistakes. The good coaches shoot for perfection in practice. I highly doubt Wade falls into the perfect practice mold. We've been fooled into believing Wade would change his ways. We've been told to buy those tickets because the product on the field will be something to be proud of. Well if that's the case, I need to call my lawyer. I have been conned big time. The HC/DC/OC are all frauds and the owner is the greatest salesman alive. I'm willing to bet the level of detail, structure, and attention paid to getting it right in practice is just not there. We're seeing the result of that void on game day. It's very sobering and extremely disheartening.

I also believe we have a number of players on the team that have become comfortable with the country club environment and are gravy training paychecks. Bobby Carpenter is a perfect example of this. No, He's not a big star and his impact is minimal. I get that. However, he has been allowed to just continue to play at a level not commensurate with strong play at the NFL level... all the while continuing to bank the check of a #17 pick. This sure does send a strong message to the rest of the players. Sadly, a culture exists that continues to counter any prospect of allowing us, as fans, the opportunity to see a team come together and provide a strong united front in crunch time. This team still has no identity and the search is desolate.

There are lots of questions? Only the greatest salesman alive knows where the answers will come from. Watching this team is like watching a train wreck as it happens. I can't turn away due to my unwavering curiosity but watching it may leave me with PTSD.

The download of the game isn't finished, so I can't re-watch it, but I am pretty sure that ball was over thrown, regardless of where Roy Williams ended up on his route.

Do you have a replay? That's what I thought I saw as well. It looked like Bailey hit Williams which was why he was a step slower than Romo anticipated.

Champ clearly hit him like 15 yards down field.

So the spin is ... oh Denver is better than i thought!

BS. They have a good defense, but come on. Their offense is one of the worst in the league.

Cowboys killed themselves...again.

Romo was horrible.

WRs are some of the worst in the league.
That isn't what I said at all.

Doesn't change the fact that the ball was still poorly overthrown.

actually yes it does.

He was knocked off his route, the timing has now changed, now roy is trying to make up for that by going up to get the ball at a high point instead of maybe catching it in stride. It mattered.

If you want to get really picky, not only should their have been an illegal contact, but you could very well have thrown a flag hitting a defenseless wr.

The one called on steve smith in the chiefs giants game was absurd. If that was a penalty this should have been a penalty and a fine.

If he wasnt pushed off his route he would of been deeper and the pass would of been on the money.

Bailey got away with a lot of illegal contact in the 4th quarter. The refs need to pull their heads and make those calls consistently.

Bailey illegal chucks our WR who ends up getting hurt because of the chuck. Nice!

The ball was thrown way too high...it doesn't matter if Roy fitted bumped off of his route.

Yes it does, Roy would of been at least another 5 yards down field if he wasnt stopped in full stride by Bailey's illegal chuck.

what? this is pretty elementary dude.

He is running a stop and go. He is running it parallel with the numbers.

While romo is throwing champ throws williams about 3 yards to the left and totally screws up the timing and the angle.

Roy then has to go get the ball at the high point, instead of running down the field and through the ball.

why you cant see this is alarming. And blowing it off as oh it was a bad throw is pretty lazy, imo.

I think a more realistic possibility than Denver is really good is that Dallas isn't very good.

Most everyone else thinks Denver is now for real. And that Dallas is still a good football team. We have two close loses. We outplayed NY except for mistakes. Denver outplayed us.

Our inexperience at WR is creating problems. And Bennett is inexperienced as well.

And our OL is still having some problems picking up blitzes.

And the fact that he got a hand on it all shows that he was close and had he not been knocked off the route he would have been able to run under it instead of trying to jump for it.

So, you don't think when a defensive back hits a receiver so hard that both of his feet come off the groud and his direction changes, that doesn't change where the receiver is going to be at the proper time?

Watch Romo during that play. He pump fakes to Williams on the in, then throws deep because he knows where Williams is going to be. Except that Williams doesn't get there because Bailey chucked him illegally. Without the chuck, Williams is farther downfield, and the ball has a much greater chance of being caught.

and on top of that, if this is ok why dont we just employ it as a strategy.

wait for the other qb to throw the ball and shove the wr out of the way.

I am curious how many qbs would get blamed for missing their targets then?

And I love how none of the national shows have even brought this up. They talk about the big hit but thats it.

This crew threw flags all day and then all of a sudden no one can see two blatant penalties.
