What is your feeling about AP? Do you think he tanks next year?

Does anybody reading this , thinks he tanks next year?

edit: this year!

I'm not sure. I am more confident in a draft pick once the price tag goes above a 4th and paycut.

A couple things with this post.

First of all it is padawan, get with your Star Wars knowledge. It's amateur hour over here.

Second, he is correct, it took Peterson 7 weeks to get back into football shape and to be NFL ready. Through the first 6 weeks Peterson ran for 499 yards on 113 attempts for a paltry 83.2 yards a game with 2 TDs. Nothing to write home about.

Lol cause that is the way autocorrect wants to spell it...who cares it's the point. He dominated that year and now mattjames can't agree with a DR. That is the point captain corrector.

Yep, but this shows that he did not come in and dominate like the myth says he did. It took him some time to get back into the grove of things.

Fair enough I suppose. But the guy comes back from these Injuries, puts up 2097, and you find fault and call it a myth......

okay. okay

Disregard the price it takes to get him to another team. Let say he plays with Minny...

Do you see him tanking? I dont. But, if you do and others do, then its no wonder why we have a big split on getting him.

I think he is good for another 2. But thats just my opinion. I dont have insider information, etc etc. I know what history tells us and the stats and all that. But I see AP having 2 strong years left. I know he takes pride in being the best.

I think Petersons good for 2 years, and he will have the best OL in football to run behind not to mention the point that he won't have to play every down.

I expect to see a good RB but nothing special like he was at age 27. I could see him having a great year. I could see him look the tired old poo bag too. The tooth is only getting longer and the bag is on the way.

I'd rather be "captain corrector" than try to have a conversation with false statements.
He did dominate, after the 6 weeks it took him to get back into playing shape.

I did not find fault with anything, I just proved that him dominating from day one was a myth.

Okay, he didnt "dominate" in the first 6 games, with less carries, but he did go on to put up a 2k burger total for the year, with more carries in the final 10 games. Got it.

For anyone wondering if AP still has it... he says he's ready to "show the world".

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...works-out-with-ap-says-rb-will-show-the-world

There are many reasons to beleive , not only will he be the same player, but even better,,,

1, He has had some time off. I see that as a good thing. He wasn't taking hits last year. Important with older backs. There "might" be some rust, but does anybody believe that rust wont go away in the first few games? The man has been running the football his entire life.

2. He does have a chip on his shoulder. With all that went down with the league and Vikings..,,,
3. If in Dallas, he is going to have Romo at QB Dez at WR and maybe the best offensive line in the league.
4. He isnt even close to giving up on his god given talents.....not even close. He will be ready.
5. Float out a division championship in his face, an NFCCG. Put that out there for him to smell, and just watch how plays........:) We dont need AP in October, November. We need him for , December, January....
6. He is going to be playing for his hometown team, his childhood team......And becuase he is playing for the Cowboys........All eyes are going to be on him......All eyes.
7. Just a plain change of scenery....... he is ready. He will be ready....and if we get him, I think we run through the NFCE and are odds on favorites to win the NFC....stick it right down Seattles throat...

You're preaching to the choir my friend. I believe he would guarantee us a trip to the SB.

No one guarantees us a trip to the Super Bowl. We had a phenomenal running game last year and did not make it. No one player guarantees any team a trip to the Super Bowl. There are too many unknowns. Injury, poor play, bad calls and the list goes on and on.

I am curious. All of you guys obsessing over AP coming here; what are you willing to give up? What is the highest draft pick you would give up? What kind of contract would you be willing to give? For how many years and how much per year?

See, I think most of us would be fine with AP coming here, even those of us arguing against it, but the sticking point is what we would be willing to give. For me, if AP could be had for a 3rd or 4th rounder and no more than a 2-3 year contract for $5-6 million per, I would be fine with it. Any more and I think you are mortgaging the future and that is something the old Jerry Jones would do.

So, put it on record guys. What is the most you would be willing to give up? I am interested in reading what everyone says. Both those who want him here and those who do not.

I'm not obsessing about AP coming to the Cowboys, I'm obsessing about any running back we can get that will help up win the next two Super Bowls. To make it perfectly clear I'm obsessed about the Cowboys winning the next 2 Super Bowls back to back. Now who out there is obsessing with me?

You are obsessing over the wrong thing. You should be obsessing how we can build a defense that is worthty of winning a championship. The one we have now isn't.

Well I have been following the Cowboys since back in the day, when they had Calvin Hill, Walt Garrison, and Duane Thomas. Having good running backs was never a problem in winning Super Bowls. Don't know if you watched the Cowboys in the old days, but watch some on the NFL network and you will see the Cowboys always had good running backs when they won the Super Bowl.

Watched every game but a handful since 1970. The Cowboys ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS had great defenses when they won Super Bowls. Doomsday in the 70's and Doomsday II in the 90's. Our current defense is light years away from being close to those dominant defenses.
