ESPN's Adam Caplan thinks Minneosta wants a first-round pick AND a player on top of that, while Yahoo.com's Charles Robinson says the Vikings could get a second-round pick for Peterson. Then there's ESPN's John Clayton, who doesn't think the Vikings will get more than a fourth-rounder for Peterson.

Anybody hearing anything rumor wise?

Broaddus said on the draft show that his "sources" have gone silent on the issue. Not sure what type of "sources" Broaddus has, but take it for what its worth.

That tells me that either something is in the works and everybody is being hush, hush about it or that Minny is simply asking for way too much and nobody in the league is willing to play ball (especially if Minny is wanting a 1st round pick and a player as well).

The thing is if I am Minny and I really need to get rid of AP because his interaction with teammates and salary make him a bad investment then I am going to treat it like an auction with the draft being the closing bell.

I would make outlandish demands and give someone a chance to wow me else I will wait until the draft and take the best offer.

I really doubt that Minnesota is going to risk $13m for a guy that a lot of young players are naturally going to revere to come in uncommitted and undermine the organization from the lockerroom pulpit. They have a young QB and team that I think they would be foolish to do so and I doubt that they are blind to it. They know that AP feels righteous off a win in federal court and resents the hell out of management for banishing him and making him have to go that route.

I agree with you. I don't see any way he goes back to Minnesota.

When the draft comes and goes and no one makes a play for AP then the Vikings are screwed because, AP doesn't want to be there and his high salary is not what the Vikings want to pay. No way AP plays in Minnesota again Imo.

That's why I absolutely believe a trade happens. And I think the Cowboys do too. And they also know where Peterson wants to go and that gives them a huge advantage.

I don't think anyone will have a real problem with what it ends up costing Dallas to eventually acquire him.

Except Vikings fans...

If the Cowboys really want Peterson that bad then they can give them our 1st round pick, and maybe add another RB in the later rounds.

I get a kick out of some of the fans in this forum and there doom and gloom of losing Murray. Do you think that Jerry and Stephen are so stupid they they don't have a backup plan for Murray. IMO they never had any intentions of keeping Murray at any price. If they wanted him they would have signed him before the draft period!!. Now sit back grab your popcorn and relax and wait how this unfolds as this is going to be an exciting draft. And yes AP is still in play.

I had worked myself up to a 1st for AP. I was thinking, why even screw around and lose out on AP. But with Stephens words the other day, I am not sure we give any draft picks for AP.

I think they want AP, but they don't want to pay too much. And that is reasonable and prudent. But, I am of the opinion, a second rounder and 3y/25m contract is more then reasonable. Especially when you think about the Cowboys situation and the backup to the backup plan being executed and relying on a rookie in a year you should be pushing for a SB. I think that is reckless.

But I think they will try and wait out the situation and get AP for nothing. And they will lose that game.

Honestly I think come draft day if our number 1 or number 2 picks are off the draft board, they are calling MINN to work on a deal... that is just my thoughts of everything going on, I could be way wrong...but I feel dallas is being patient to see if they can get who they want in the first before they make any kind of move.

I also agree with others, I don't think AP plays with Minn again with how he is acting and how his agent is acting.

I hope you are right and I am wrong.

Getting AP for the next 2 years, is the most sigificant move , in Free Agency or the DraFt, that we could make when it comes to pushing for a SB. No other move comes close.

If it takes a high draft choice, so be it. But its even better if we can get him, without, giving up any draft picks. Obviously. --- But, just get him.

I have no idea how it all turns out. But it seems all 3 sides are playing hard ball. Minny, AP, and Dallas. No sure if it gets done....

Pretty spot on opinions. I agree with both of them. If we don't get Gurley or Gordon in the first we will be dialing Minny.
