We signed 3 RB's so it's hard to say that we completely ignored the position. We didn't sign a pro bowler but do we need a pro bowler at every position in order to win?

We have a guy who has only played in the preseason since last year and hasn't done ANYTHING in the NFL, we have a guy who is better at stealing underwear than running the ball and that says a lot considering he got caught stealing the underwear, and then we have a proven loser in DMF.

I'm sorry that is pathetic and will be our weakest link in 2015. It will go from our strongest link to weakest. There will be negative consequences for that.

What do you care? Remember, Romo is still the QB!

Given that Murray got 1000 yards before contact it will be tough to not have a 1200 yard rusher. We will just see how it goes. We will look to draft a RB next year too. We can't have everything and trying to do that and having deals go bad is how we get into bad cap situations.

If he wants to make waves he just has to use the bully pulpit in the lockerroom and refuse to cooperate with the coaches and marketing types doing only the bare minimum so as to avoid getting a fine. That is what Percy Harvin did and he got traded. No way they pay him $13m if he isn't going to buy in. Zimmer I am sure will try to sell him on staying and we will see what happens. Zimmer is a good coach.

And he can be suspended for conduct detrimental to the team and lose even more money. Now the Vikings would have to cut/trade him after the season, but your strategy could easily backfire for this season

100% wrong. I did not think we were only a RB away before FA/the draft. I think we are a RB away right now. I never said, just add AP and don't improve any of the team. That wouldn't make any sense at all. After we added Hardy, got Lee back, and now have a healthy Demarcus Lawrence.. I felt we were very close and with the addition of some players in the draft we were right there. Now, we just completely ignored the running game in the whole draft. How in the hell does that make sense?

Maybe you didn't. But there are 200 pages of people saying we should have traded picks to get AP here - picks that were used to improve the defense.

As for ignoring the RB in the draft, it makes sense because a RB we liked didn't fall to us. It's not like Gurley dropped to us and we passed. McFadden is going to surprise some people.

No, they cannot. Not without going to court where the Vikings have already lost. He doesn't have to do all the TV/edia stuff or any other voluntary work either. He can tell his teammates about how he feels. Vikings cannot stop him from that.

Percy Harvin did the same thing just last year. That is all assuming he intends to be honest as well. He could just say he is hurt.

Hasn't Stephen Jones answered this question? Because he doesn't believe in devoting big money to the RB position, especially RB's at 30 who start the decline rapidly, and because he believes it is the improvement to the OL that made the running game work rather than Murray. Hard to argue with the numbers on any of these points.

So you sign Williams from the practice squad who has good potential - he is now our fresh blood - sign McFadden to a reasonable contract that we can walk away from whenever we need to, and have Randle and Dunbar.

When Murray gets 1000 yards before contact last year, it's also hard to argue that any of these guys shouldn't be able to break the 1000 mark behind this line. Instead of drafting a RB we made sure we drafted OL that could keep things going if someone is injured.

The plan makes a lot of sense and certainly more sense then trading away picks and paying big money to a 30 year RB on the belief that he will somehow run for 2200 yards, because it would take that to be a significant improvement from last year.

The plan, so far, makes zero sense. And I am not sure why anybody at this point, would defend what we have at the RB position.

There is no excuse for having Mcfadden, Randle, Dunbar, and Williams as your backs.

We didn't necessarily need to pick up AP. And we didnt necessarily need to keep Murray, but how about drafting one?

To think that this was their plan is puzzling. This is a bad bad plan!!

He may very well do that. But to take that gamble, with this team, in this scenario, is .............Dumb!

Wasn't Trent Richardson just suspended for conduct detrimental to the team? Yeah they can't suspend him indefinitely, but to suggest the team is powerless without going to court isn't true.

At this point, it's essentially a wait-and-see proposition for me. A trade didn't happen, but the Cowboys' lack of drafting a rookie runner is a head scratcher.

:huh:

Are they still somehow counting on acquiring Peterson or do they actually think that this bunch is somehow good enough?

I worried when they signed McFadden that it would in any way take them out of any other options for replacing Murray and was assured at that time that wasn't the case. And now free agency has dried up and the draft has come and gone, and that guy currently sits atop the depth chart.

And now the usual crowd starts talking up the current bunch and telling anyone who'll listen that they're 'good enough'.

If this is truly the plan, it's not one I'm happy about, nor one I agree with.

Come on man. We do this the right way. Offer something for him if you're interested. AP will not get guaranteed money from Minnesota. Then AP can hold out. He will be traded.

I'm hoping a player who's position we have plenty of and a 4th. Or a conditional 2ND if we make the NFC Championship game? I cannot believe Minn is doing anything more than playing hardball.

I don't see how this team scraps what worked last year.

Why would they do that?

20 years of nothing. And we finally get a team. And they are going to change the offense?

Why would they do that?

I'm talking about the run game. Do you have confidence in the current regime having long sustained drives running like last year?

We aint winning the SB with freaking McFadden/Randle at RB.................that fact that some of you actually think this is disturbing.

Demarco ----------------------------------------------------------------->1800yds
McFadden + Randle + Williams + Dunbar ----------------------->1800Yds

All you doom and gloom Cowboy fans screaming for an all pro running back, lighten up we don't need one back getting all those yards.
