Adrian Peterson wants to be a Cowboy

I don't how accurate the information is on this write up but it claims Peterson would be interested in more than just Dallas "While the Dallas Cowboys have been reported to be a Peterson favorite destination, the running back prefers five teams: the Arizona Cardinals, the Indianapolis Colts, the Cowboys, the San Diego Chargers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers."

If this is the case then I would think the team who is willing to pay more would get him and have to give something to Minn in return. No thanks, we have gone from Oh he wants to go to Dallas and willing to take some home town discount to this? lol Pass

I have googled him. So I know what his stats are. He was very good but freak? His best season ever was four years ago. A freak would be on top every year to me no matter what. He wasn't.

lol alright dude. he played on the vikings. you know, christian ponder? who at WR? TE? Teams stacked 8 in the box and couldn't stop him.

His combo of physicality, speed, size, etc is unmatched. He is a manimal.

"A freak would be on top every year to me no matter what. He wasn't."

This is really stupid but whatever.

Dude, Murray is not on AP's level. He just isn't. AP has never been in a good offense.
It's not just that AP had an ACL...it was ACL and MCL, and less than a year later he ran for 2000 yards. He is a whole different animal. Watch the two run. Not highlights, game tape. AP is better at everything except pass catching.
Murray had a great year. He's not going to repeat it. AP would match it.[/quote]

We don't know either of those things. We do know Murray fits with this team. He doesn't have to have a repeat of last season for
us to go to the next level. He has to be solid and there is no reason to think he won't be. Again, APs best season was four years ago.
Sitting may have helped it may hurt. Being older couldn't help. What if we let Murray walk and AP hit's the wall? Try again next year?

Your right. Whatever.

He'll be somewhere not named Dallas when it's all said and done.

Murray is far from awful in space he makes defenders miss due to his cutting ability. He made several nice runs this past season with quick cuts out in space making defenders miss where were you? The problem with him other than the fumbles are the negative carries where he gets cute and tries cutting back and reversing field when he doesn't see a hole. NFLN showed a series of runs he had in 2014 where he made something out of nothing due to his cutting ability and vision that according to some here claim he lacks. He had a beautiful short TD run where he made a quick cut in front of a defender making them miss and knifing his way into the end zone. As for Peterson he hasn't had a run longer than 23 yards since week 10 of the 2013 season and has only only scored 3 TD's since then. Murray has had 2 runs longer than Peterson during that stretch and has scored more TD's.

You can credit the Cowboys OL for that I'm just giving you the facts. You're talking about the Peterson from 2012 which is the last time he had an 80 yard. A lot has happened to AP since then and none of it has been good. While you and others are looking at the AP from years ago I'm looking at the last few games he played and he looked like a player who's best days had come and gone. When you toss in a missed season due to a suspension and that he'll be turning 30 in a couple of weeks I'm not as excited as some about the prospects of him possibly replacing a 27 year old back who just led the NFL in rushing and the Cowboys to a 12-4 season. There's no question AP would have some success running behind the Cowboys OL but for how long is the question. It's hard for me to get excited about replacing a 27 year old back who just entered their prime with a 30 year old back who's best days are behind them.

Murray left 300 yards on the field last year. He's just a good back that had a great season behind an extraordinary offensive line.

Peterson is rested and healthy, and here, he wouldn't have to do literally everything by himself.

I agree with much of that. However, he's the best running back on the planet, and it's not even close. Being north of 30 doesn't matter with him. He's the exception to every rule.

The dude came back from ACL surgery in eight months and rushed for 2,000 yards. Incredible.

Father time is undefeated. Peterson is not the exception to that rule. I really like AP too but implying he is impervious to age is going a bit too far.

Murray left some yards out there, I agree. 300? who knows. He also gained his yards about alone until last year. He also had to be a major role in keeping our defense off the field. Plus do his part to stop Romo from missing more time than he did.
That's a pretty good all around back IMOP.

I can't even argue this anymore.

If Murray had spent his early career in Minnesota with the personnel Peterson had he'd be looking at signing a Mark Ingram type contract right now.

Meanwhile Peterson was made the all time highest paid player at his position.

Right now. RIGHT NOW Peterson is a better runner.

Murray probably isn't even a top 5 back in the league right now based on talent.

He got stronger and got slower. He doesn't have a 4th gear yet alone a 5th.

And even I had to stop defending him towards the end of the year when he was repeatedly leaving yards on the field. You can only argue so many times that running into the back of his teammate was not an accident.

I don't see it that way. I like him and I believe most here do. He's just not AD, it's that simple, IMO.

We don't know what AD will do this coming season. It is not a given, it is a bunch of hope. His last outing last season he did not look like a freak vs one of the worst run defense in the NFL. He did not look like a freak after the 2013 season when he gained only 1,266 yards vs the 2,000 he had in 2012. I think people are falling in love with the past and expecting they will get the same. I highly doubt it

based on what the 1,200 he had in 2013, he is 2 years removed for the 2,000 yards and his numbers went down and he is not any younger. I think people are looking at old tape and thinking this is what they will get.

Because he did it all on his own, same as Romo loses on his own.
