Adrian Peterson wants to be a Cowboy

I have seen him play plenty. he's no freak.

It might come down to Peterson's willingness to be the 'bad guy' and take the PR hit that comes with it.

Based on his comments released after yesterday's 4 hour meeting, Peterson wants out, but he's trying to approach things as tactfully as he can.

And the Vikings are publicly sticking with the "We want Adrian back" line, so something's gotta give.

He had nearly 1,300 yards in 14 games, he missed two. Along with playing very little in the Ravens game that year.

If it wasn't for those two missed games, he most likely would have been right up there with McCoy with leading the league in rushing.

Yep injuries. I thought he was super man no injuries. I love how quick excuses are made for those people want

What's being exaggerated is how great the Cowboys OL is. Those who are saying it's on par or better than the Great Wall of Dallas are the ones exaggerating. Murray created a number of plays in 2014 and NFLN documented a lot of them. He also ran through some huge holes and he picked up a lot of the dirty tough yards that kept the chains moving keeping the defense fresh and off the field. Go back and review some of the runs where he made defenders miss by cutting back and knifing his way through for some tough first downs and TD's.

He had at least 2 TD's where there wasn't much there and he made a play. It's amazing how many I've seen since the season ended attempt to tear his game down after the great season he had. Now that he's being allowed to test the market and AP might be available the disrespect for Murray is spreading like a wildfire. The Cowboys fan base is so screwed up you have many who would like to see Dez and Murray replaced and that's no exaggeration. LOL

Now it's not Murray who is overrated. It's our line. That's embarrassing talk.

You'll die on that hill alone.

Something is certainly going to give. The Vikings suck with or without Peterson, so there is no reason for them to keep him and pay him a fortune. I think they are trying their best to get some team to offer up something nice to trade for Peterson.

No reason to keep him? I think having him takes much pressure off a young QB in Bridgewater where teams can't just pin their ears back and go after him. Vikes management along with Mike Zimmer flew down to Texas yesterday and meant with Peterson for 4 hours, they continue to say they want him and I guess we will find out soon enough what their meeting was about.

I agree on all points. That's why he's got to force their hand in whatever way he can.

Publicly state that he doesn't want to come back.

Show up to work out at the team facilities - risking injury and a guaranteed salary in the process - to further force the Vikings to act.

And telling them clearly that he's unwilling to restructure his deal to facilitate a trade, effectively killing any chance of one happening.

Now, if he's looking for as much money as he can get, his best option would be to stay in Minnesota, but from his past and present comments, that's not the impression I'm getting.

What I keep seeing and reading is a guy who wants to play at home in Texas.

No word from the Cowboys front office so it leads me to think they are trying to trade for him

I agree with much of that. However, he's the best running back on the planet, and it's not even close. Being north of 30 doesn't matter with him. He's the exception to every rule.

The dude came back from ACL surgery in eight months and rushed for 2,000 yards. Incredible.

I think they are going to wait and see what happens with Murray before they look into trading for AP. I'm guessing if JG had his choice between the two, he would choose Murray.

Murray is a better blocker/has better hands. AP is the better runner

Looking at AP's scrapbook of past heroics do not mean he can readily translate into Sunday glories for the Cowboys. Look, he's in his 30s. He'd be in a new system. He'd bring child abuse baggich here and why . . . oh, because we want to replace the league leading rusher who deserve a pay raise and has stuck with us threw thick and thins.

Look mens and gentle womans, it won't be easy keeping Murray.
It will be harder to retrain a new RB in his 30s who is no roll model for parents.
We are better than this. I half said the same things about the Ray Rices and Michael Vicks of the NFL and half been consistent.

We don't need a aging star who bring only his scrapbook for us to salivate over.

Murray may be the better blocker but I could care less about the hands. We've never done much to get Murray involved in the passing game.

Peterson > Murray or any other RB in the league all day long.

Peterson could put us over the top. With Murray we're still going to have to get better everywhere else.

With Peterson he may be just what we need with what we already have. Assuming we get better then I say the Cowboys are the favorites to represent the NFC in the Superbowl.

Laughing at the absurdity of comparing Adrian Peterson to Murray.

Only on a Cowboys forum, I suppose.

This is like comparing Russell Wilson to Joe Montana.

Where did I make a comment about Murray not being overrated? I haven't said anything about him being over or underrated only that his abilities are being disrespected by some here. Anyone who claims the Cowboys current OL is on par or better than the Great Wall of Dallas is overrating it. Are you one of those who thinks this OL is on par or better than the 90's Great Wall of Dallas? The Cowboys have a good OL but some FANS are getting far too carried away with some of their comments. No one exaggerates more than Cowboy FANS.

In this league you don't need to be on par with the 90's line to be very successful, because no one has a Doomsday or Steel Curtain defense lining up across from you either. To say Murray didn't greatly benefit from arguably the best or one of the best run blocking lines in the league is absurd.

Murray is what he is. A good-not-great all around back. If you are going to sink all of these resources in the OL and make the running game the key feature and identity of not only your offense, but really your whole team, you should get the best talent you can at that RB spot. With the possibility of Peterson and more importantly a good RB draft class coming up, I'm not certain sinking $7M/yr into Murray accomplishes that.

You ask where you said he hasn't been overrated meanwhile you overrate him any time you argue he is a better back for us this year over AD.

How exactly do you overrate an offensive line that had two all pros and a pro bowler... Is young and athletic.... And paved the way for the leagues best rushing and passing season?

MINN went 7-9 last year. I think Peterson could easily help the team win a game or two. That could mean the playoffs.

Their D is pretty good and Bridgewater should get better.
